Started RPGing as a teenager in the '80s, with sweet but distant memories of AD&D, Traveller, Space Opera, Aftermath, Top Secret, and most anything else that was around then.
As a "grown up", I decided to get back into it a few years ago, sinking my teeth into 4E for a while; also had a fleeting go at Shadowrun (love the concept, struggle with the game a bit) and Firefly (definitely worthy of more time as one of my favourite settings) and a few others. My affliction is a tendency to buy into games that look very cool but I'll never play, and Numenera, Mindjammer, Rogue Trader and Only War are among those that sit idly on my shelves, fondly regarded but never no more than sadly flicked through.
My "hot" game for past few years has been 5E, not the least because I've run a weekly group of stalwarts for over four years now, and this is their very favourite way to taunt death. Thus I am now very comfortable with the 5E system, but hoping to foray into Adventures in Middle-Earth, Call of Cthulhu, Coriolis (mixed with some Firefly!), cyberpunk (maybe Red, as Shadowrun's evolution has disappointed me), and perhaps something even more boundary-stretching, like The Strange.
I am, by preference, usually a GM, although certainly not adverse to playing in most anything. I am very impressed with Roll20 and, to some extent, have started enjoying running my games in VTTs over the in-person paper/pencil experience.
