Role Playing > Roll Playing
I love FATE and I also have enjoyed pdq#, Red Box Hack, RBH2, 3:16, Storming the Wizard's Tower, Monsters, Drowning and Falling, and many other indie / small press and homebrew games. Anything rules light that doesn't restrict the narrative. As a player, I expect to be able to help tell a story rather than just be crammed into someone else's plot. And as a GM, I expect all the players to collaborate to help create the story as well rather than just wanting to be led by the nose down railroad tracks. I want to play with people more motivated to tell a good story than to see how many baddies they can hit with their axe. ;)
Bit about myself: I am 30, teach 1st grade in Asheville, North Carolina. Live with my girlfriend and 2 little girls, so I don't have lot's of time for gaming, but I think I could run a game once a week. (Maybe every other) Science / computer / video game geek. Anything else you want to know, just ask.
Edit: this is 6 years old, I’m now married, 36, working on becoming a stay at home dad, and have really enjoyed the pbta and blades systems. Would love to get into a dungeon world or scum and villainy game. I’m really looking for a group that wants to “play to find out what happens” rather than have a preset notion of what story they want to tell. Improv is another hobbie I have enjoyed and the intersection of pen and paper gaming and improv is fascinating to me. I really want to find a group that is comfortable “yes anding” each other and working together to collaborate and create a setting and tell a story rather than being passive audience members.
