My name is Tom or Thomas, whichever works for you. I have played D&D 5E and even as a DM. I am very familiar with D&D and its rules with many years of experience,but not Roll20, so yes I am a newbie to the site. I have also played Vampire: The Masquerade and I do have a few Munchkin card game sets, so I am familiar with those as well, but I am always down with trying a new RPG if it seems cool.
I am mainly seeking some D&D action. I like a more realistic type game play. Basically you can't be throwing a weapon or using magic in-between characters or over their heads without a serious ability check roll if they are within 5 ft of each other. Serious check rolls if your calling out a specific part of the body you are aiming for. I am also not a big fan of hurting your other party members or trying to make them do things that might get them hurt because its a personality trait, such as Personality Type: Always will take on any challenge. Unless your playing an all Evil character campaign. Your supposed to be a team. I am also not a fan of a 'one trick pony' player. When they just use their sword to attack the entire campaign and do nothing else especially if they also have magic abilities.
I have all the D&D 5E books Several Monster manuals, DM Guide, and of course the Players handbook. I also have several other books that can be added to D&D 5E such as adding the world of Krynn, Forgotten Realms, Ravenloft, plus a few you may never have heard of, each with several different races, and classes add ons. Ever heard of playing as a Loxodon, basically humanoid Elephants and I also have the book on sub classes, such as playing several types of Bards or Barbarians for example. Yep I am a nerd LOL!
For the past year or 2 I have been trying to play the game with several family members and friends but it seems several of them always have something to do every weekend so we end up not playing. My schedule is free for the most part for any day unless something really important comes up. I was playing once a week on Saturdays or was trying to. DM's probably know how that goes. I would just like to a player for awhile and get used to the site. DM's can feel free to ask me game questions since I have experience and if I can answer them I will. However understand ever DM plays differently and their really is no wrong way to DM unless you just suck at storytelling LOL! I can deal with just about any DM's playing style even if they change a few things here and there. For example I never made my players if they was a wizard or such to have to use components or rewrite there spells in a book or use spells as rituals where they have to wait a few days for the spell to take affect. I threw all that nonsense out the window. We didn't do armies or having vehicles or horses either. None of that BS. That kind of detail ruins the game play. Keep it simple to a point. Now we did count use of arrows or bolts and if you did not loot the body and collect your arrows or such after a battle they were gone. So as long as your not to crazy into details as a DM its all good. If your looking for a player who has the time to play and has a bit of experience then give me a hollar, I might just join ya.
