I've been telling stories (my preferred moniker being "Storyteller", not "GM" or "DM") in the RPG community since about 2011 and playing in them well before that. While doing it in person is great, being able to stay in touch with your favorite people works great through Roll20 and i enjoy the medium. I've run Traditional Rifts and White Wolf/Onyx Publishing, with an emphasis on Rifts and Mage.
For me as a Storyteller, my goal is to weave tales of intrigue, depth, loss and triumph in a way that is personal and meaningful for the players. I may construct the background, but it's really the players that shape the story, its outcome, and leave memorable experiences. That's right, minimal railroads and nothing is set in stone, well, minus stonework. Sure, there's a healthy amount of cheese and laughter, but i try to leave you caring about what's going on, not just as passengers on a murder-hobo journey of dice-rolling excitement.
