I've played several campaigns, including homebrew systems, and have about ten year's worth of experience under my belt. I experienced with learning new rule sets. If a build is too strong, prefer reworking the sheet between sessions. I put roleplay as my highest priority. As such, meaningful combat drives the plot forward and is another medium for character development. Exploration is the most common way for my characters to die as I enjoyed fiddling with plot hooks that are best left alone.
The Tyranny of Fun is the scale on which I judge TTRPGs. Long term fun shows the health of the game, and players should be looking forward to the next session. Ups and downs are part of the game but it should never turn into a chore.
I love roleplaying games because every moment is unique. You never know when you'll toss boiling soup on kobolds or run for your life from an Owl bear.
I am currently looking for a group to play 13th Age so that I can gain practical experience for GM'ing my own 13th Age.
