Bio

While new to roleplaying over the net, I've been playing and GM'ing face-to-face for quite some time. Central European Time (GMT+1).

Current urge: GM'ing the Swedish RPG Noir in English.

I'm quite picky on how to roleplay, but quite flexible on what and when (well, not as flexible on when as I would like, as I still has to work and sleep).

  • RP > adventuring > conflicts > combat > rules
  • Theater of the mind. While a quick sketch here and there might be used to clarify things, the roleplay is by words.
  • Focus on verisimilitude and "simulating the setting"
  • A strong GM/player divide (a few exceptions from this point exist, as I like a couple of almost GM-less games). The players can affect things through their PCs, or by making OOC requests (that the GM is free to ignore). A limited possibility to affect the setting through plot points might exist depending on the game, but if they exist they are always vetted through the GM.
  • Unless the PC is oblivious about the setting, the player has to have a fair understanding of the setting.
  • A player shouldn't need to know more about the mechanics than what is needed to be able to know what is within their PC's capability. Being able to interpret any eventual dice rolls is a bonus.
  • The characters and NPCs have their motivations, connections, resources and agendas. This is what drives the world around the PCs, not a pre-planned plot the players can't deviate from.
  • Complex motivations and agendas. No clear black or white hats (not even for Star Wars or supers), but at least shades of grey.

As a player, I generally want to experience the setting through the eyes of my PC; stepping into its shoes and getting under its skin, to understand my PC's train of thoughts. As a GM I usually run a game from what I would want as a player, but other player styles might be compatible with my style.
