JC is a retired Navy Senior Chief IT with 24 years of active-duty service. He began his experience with tabletop gaming through Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd Edition in high school and has remained involved with various editions for over 25 years, naming the 5th Edition ruleset as his preferred system. For the past 15 years, he has consistently undertaken the responsibilities of Dungeon Master—a role he finds both challenging and more rewarding than that of a player.
While JC appreciates the player perspective, he prefers crafting narratives from the vantage point of the Dungeon Master. His approach typically features a 60/40 balance between combat and roleplaying, though this ratio adapts according to the preferences of the group. Campaigns under JC’s direction are generally open world, empowering players to influence the storyline's progression. He frequently integrates original stories and adventure concepts and occasionally incorporates elements from published modules when they align with the overarching theme of the campaign. Central to JC's leadership style is a commitment to fairness and consistency for all participants, including both players and non-player characters; for instance, if players opt to utilize the flanking rule, adversaries within the game are granted the same opportunity.
