I'm Preston (they/them or he/him). I've been playing rpgs since 2008 when I was 16, but I'd been dreaming of them since age 10. Reading and rereading the setting, lore, class and race descriptions in the old D&D 3.5 splatbooks was my introduction to and inspiration for world building and running games.
I love a lot of the ideas in the setting books and modules released today, and I'm discovering Eberron as my favorite campaign settings, but my heart is with collaborative setting creation with my players, finding out through play what the world looks like together.
For me, role-playing games at their best are narratives influenced by rules. The rules of a game should be inspiring, driving, and encourage players and GMs alike to a better story. I embrace them when they do that, and let them fade to the background when they don't.
