Personal:
I am a 25 year old software engineer in California (PT [GMT -8]). I'm an avid gamer with an extensive history of the mainstream multiplayer console / computer games. I'm newer to the tabletop scene but have played / GM-ed a few campaigns of 3.5, 5E, and Pathfinder. I am interested in finding a long-term group to play with, ideally across a variety of different games. I marked that I'm seeking a group for 5E because it's where I'm most comfortable, but I'm down to try anything if the group will teach it to me :D
Game Preferences:
My favorite games have been longer-form narratives with clearly defined choices for plot progression. I'm not opposed to open-world games but I've seen them degrade into running in circles accomplishing nothing. I have no experience with the one-shot format but I would like to try it out. I love storytelling and coming up with elaborate histories for my characters. Admittedly, I'm not the best roleplayer but I'm practicing. Most of my experience comes from combat-oriented campaigns but I prefer RP because it often provides a better storytelling experience.
