I've been playing various RPG's for over 35 years. Normally (before COVID), I played weekly sessions in person however, once it hit I moved here. I am seeking to either join an existing (or soon to start) campaign or start one of my own in one game system or another. I live in the EST zone and am available almost any evening.
Most of the time I have served as the DM of various groups, however I also enjoy being a player. I have high levels of experience with all versions of D&D (except 4th) as well as Pathfinder 1e. I have read and studied the material for Pendragon, Call of Cthulhu, Rolemaster, MERP (Middle Earth Roleplaying), Wolves of God and many others. After all the years I've been playing, I love that there is always something I can learn from other players.
I enjoy games that place a heavy emphasis on roleplaying, character development and immersion. Whether as a DM or a player, I enjoy creating voices and fully immersing myself into the characters to help bring encounters to life. As a DM, I utilize music and sound effects, (and when in person-lighting as well). Obviously, online TTRP gaming presents unique challenges but I really enjoy trying to make the experience as immersive as I can for myself and my players.
Given the choice, I actually prefer low level/low magic adventures to high level/high magic because it forces me to rely on my wits, luck and creative tactics.
Personality wise: I am a dedicated TTRPG gamer that plays well with different personalities and styles and I can be counted on to be at the table when the game starts ( I don't do no shows). I am very easy going (not a rules lawyer, argumentative by nature and I am open minded and can roll with things). I firmly believe in fostering atmospheres that are welcoming and encouraging to everyone at the game but it will quickly become evident that I am old school (i.e.. I enjoy traditional classical fantasy tropes and conventions.).
I enjoy various game "moods" from fun and lighthearted to dark and gritty. While I enjoy creating action via my character choices that draws the group together and gives others action to react to, I believe very much in making sure that no personality dominates the game. It's a group game-that's why it's fun. I firmly believe in being polite and respectful to others always.
I love the tactical side of combat, but I also love roleplaying out encounters, puzzles etc.
Communication: I am only interested in games that utilize voice and video. I just can't get into games if I can't see the people I am playing with.
Aside from RPG's, I enjoy being with my family, teaching history, PC gaming and all things medieval and Celtic.
