I love stories and to me that's what RPGs are all about. I have been a DM for many years and it has become my mission to get all my friends involved.
There's a page in the DM guide which lists all the types of players who enjoy D&D. I feel like all of them. I love exploring undiscovered lands, roleplaying through noble intrigues, slaying giant monsters in the most creative ways possible, unlocking trapped puzzles, and hoarding rare loot back to my castle.
My ideal campaign is one that begins collaboratively, with the DM creating a world based on the character's backstories all woven together, and then switches completely to the DM's control, where players have no idea what to expect even when it concerns their own character's past catching up with them.
I have DMed in the past and would like to again when the time and resources become available. As a player, I feel it's very important to work with the other players to make the most interesting story possible, even if it means taking a back seat during another character's storyline. I have no problem standing back to let someone else get that epic moment, as long as my turn comes around eventually.
