My name is Frank. In 1978, at the age of 12, I was a Navy brat and heard rumors of this game being played "State-side" about adventurers, with dungeons, dragons, dice, and excitement. I fell in love with the idea, but had no access to the game itself, only the idea. I started making maps and gathering friends, and dragging them into the adventures. We used the 6-sided dice from other board games and made up the rules as we went along.
I started playing AD&D when we got home in 1979. I have played so many different role-playing games, but D&D was the first and always seems to be the one I come back to the most.
I have played all D&D editions since then, taking my longest break during 2e. I returned to the tables for 3e, 4e, and then 5e. I started playing weekly sessions with some college friends on Roll20 in 2014, first as a player and shortly after as the DM. We still play every Friday when schedules permit.
