Hello and thanks for taking the time to read my bio.
BACKGROUND:
I'm a veteran turned hobby farmer. I joined Roll20 recently during the COVID scare and have really enjoyed the visual aspects of the program. For the last few months, my group and I have been socially distancing ourselves and Roll20 allows us to still play. Now we are slowly getting back together and I still wish to enjoy the mechanical aspects of roll20 as well as the opportunity to interact with folks all over the globe that share the same love of a hobby as I do.
As a DM, I found the ease of use in managing many different NPC's to be very rewarding. I love the community map making and have supported some of the artists in purchasing their maps and accessories.
WHY ROLE PLAY:
What I love most about role playing games (RPG)s is the story. I do like the mechanics of the games as it gives me grounding. I am a rules as written kinda guy, but they are just tools. What I do enjoy is the aspect of an unfolding story with a close knit group of folks making a difference in the story world of D&D.
I cut my teeth on D&D back in 1978, so out of all the games I play, I like D&D the most. I have DM'd more games than played, but I do enjoy both aspects of the game.
I feel the game is the player's story, not the other way around. The DM places obstacles in the path of the players and they figure out how to overcome them. Either going around or straight through. I don't think I have ever run a game where the outcome was what I originally expected.
