Bio

I played 2e D&D on a weekly basis for about 9 years when it released. I would also GM "Westmarch" style adventures in Warhammer, Marvel and Shadowrun. I changed my focus to on-line RPGs and just recently got back into 5e with the ability to play remotely (gotta love Roll20). I have been playing AL one-shots on a few Discord servers, but I'm looking for a more permanent game that can lead to more character development. I have a background in writing and enjoy dreaming up new characters.

How I like to play

  • I play my character rather than try to make the optimal level-up, social, or combat choices. I try not to do anything stupid, but sometimes I don't do the best thing.
  • I try to let world/game events affect my character's personality/actions over time.
  • I stay in character as much as I can.
  • I won't rules-lawyer, I won't min-max, and I won't tell others how to play their characters.
  • I try to build group cohesion and character development.

Stuff I like in games

  • GMs who have a story but are happy to deviate from it.
  • GMs who incorporate hints from player backstories into the world.
  • GMs who reward inventiveness and role-play, not just combat success and completion of plot points.
  • GMs who are clear about how they rule and consistent in the application.
  • Players who weave their character stories into the world and allow connections with other characters.
  • Players who want to be part of a party. Characters who have legitimate reasons to be part of this particular party.
  • A setting and story where the stakes are appropriate to the level of the party.

Stuff I don't like in games

  • PvP: Except in the case of some really fun one-offs, this generally spells the end of a campaign.
  • People who are frequently late or no-shows.
  • Players who tell others how to run their characters.
  • GMs and players who tolerate rude, racist, or narrow-minded comments and jokes.
