Older gamer (46). Prior US military CWO-3. Started in the Air Force in '97 and ended up in the Army after 9/11. I'm on military disability and work part time now as a civvie doing simple stuff now. Gaming has once again taken a major lead in my lack of a life. It was always there for me from when I first started at age 10, with AD&D.
I'm somewhat looking for real life games, in Seattle. All my mates left after the whole covid thing and 'poor decisions' in the city. Can't find many non-D&D groups around here. Sometimes online TTRPGs can be 'meh' though. It's a disconnect, especially with the randomness and flakiness of strangers you really never meet. I prefer face-to-face, at an actual table. People I'd like to connect with, out of a game as well. If you can still do that here...ok, let's roll!
Dislikes: Over 'Anal'ysing rules lawyer players. GMs who make absurd house rules to make things harder or remove options. Players that need to backseat-GM everything (including other players character sheets, WTF! That's bad etiquette even at a table, online is no excuse). Wargamers that just want to have a session of combat and move on every single week. Stingy GMs. (Matt Mercer is one of those, sorry he's not perfect. Not like anyone is).
Likes: Character and PC/NPC interactions that last longer than a few sentences and aren't forgotten the next session. Games that have consequences (good and bad) to our actions. GM's that know most of these rules in games are guidelines and fun is better than total strict adherence to RAW...within reason. Changing everything is daft as well. I know that's vague, sorry. One's 'fun' is subjective after all.
Not interested in one shots or pre-made limited run modules. Just campaigns that could take years ideally.
I love systems that have some crunch and fluff but aren't hard capped with levels. (Which is why I'm into Genesys and Savage Worlds, they are soft capped in progression. It doesn't really stop). Systems I dislike that are on both ends: Fate and GURPS. One has no crunch, the other has no fluff.
And no, I don't need hypocrite 'safe spaces' full of cancel pigs/activists that are egg-shell minefields of think-speak. (If you constantly need to proclaim this stuff, you've already failed and are ruining games and everything in general for all us geeks, in true 1984 fashion). Gaming was never a problem before this. Keep it to yourself.
Sorry for that daft rant, just need to clear up those things first. Because...I'm too old for this to be a thing. Games are for fun, not your soapbox of delusional oppression Olympics. :P
I'm available (Pacific time):
Sun, Thu & Fri, all day. Wed after 1700. Sat fortnightly.
Games I'm looking for:
Savage Worlds: SWADE (the newest edition) of Rifts, Battlelords, or Deadlands.
Star Wars: FFGs Edge/Age/Force only (not Saga, some d20 kit bash, West End, etc). No Sequels or High Republic, ever. Stick to the default era. Might do Old Republic or Clone Wars, if it's handled well. Basically, prefer EU over 90% of Disney.
Genesys: Twilight Imperium or Android.
Fallout: As is.
Alien RPG: As is, but I'm not into the easily dead mentality. :P
Dragon Age (also including The Expanse rpg, which isn't listed): As is.
Warhammer Fantasy & Warhammer 40K: 4e for Fantasy, while Rogue Trader, Only War or Black Crusade for 40K.
BoL: As is.
