I've been playing tabletop roleplaying games for a few decades now. I've mostly played in person with friends and family, but I have played some at local game shop with people I had never met before including one ongoing campaign, a number of one shots, and some experience with Adventurers League. I have experience with original D&D, 1st and 2nd Edition AD&D, Battlesystem, Star Frontiers, Top Secret SI, GURPS, d6 Star Wars, d20 Star Wars, 3rd Edition D&D, 5th Edition D&D, and The Expanse Roleplaying Game. The global pandemic made remote gaming look much more attractive. As much as I miss the in-person experience, it also opens up playing with people from anywhere in the world. I've enjoyed playing with my cousin who lives hundreds of miles away. I have GMed The Expanse Roleplaying Game for a few sessions over Discord. I've DMed a 5eD&D homebrew campaign on Roll20 and Zoom that lasted over a year. I can't say I've mastered the Roll20 interface yet, but I'm getting competent. I've finished DMing that homebrew campaign and I finished playing a gnome wizard who level dipped into monk though The Lost Mine of Phandelver. I would like to continue his adventures if anyone reading this is looking to DM them. I'm DMing the Waterdeep campaign on Roll20. We've finished Dragon Heist and are getting into Dungeon of the Mad Mage. I've known every player in the Waterdeep campaign for decades. Most of the players were in the other recent campaigns, but one hasn't played since the '80's. She was the first person to introduce me to D&D and my first ever DM. It will be interesting to see her return to the game. I've played in a homebrew setting that was full of fun with a great group of people I've met through Roll20. After a long pandemic induced hiatus, I'm playing in person again. I've played an arcane trickster in Adventurers League games at my friendly local gaming shop. I like meeting people with a broad spectrum of D&D experience. It's fun to see the enthusiasm of people playing for the first time as well as the savvy of people who have played for a while. We've been through Spelljammer Academy and were supposed to go through Light of Xarysis, but that campaign stalled as we've were without a DM more often than not. I ended up paying a professional DM to play through Light of Xarysis on Roll20.
