I started playing D&D way back in 1983 with the Basic and Expert rules. I continued playing through high school and college using the AD&D and 2nd Edition rules. At some point in college I ended up being the DM for our group and I've only played D&D as a PC once since the mid 90s. That was in early 2014 when I was introduced to the 5e rules at a small gaming convention. I played for 4 hours and really liked the rules. Not long after, I'd talked my old college buddies into joining roll20 where I immediately ended up as the DM again.
So, after 5 years of leading a campaign, I want to be a PC again and explore the 5e game from the other side of the table. If I can pick up some DM and roll02 tips that I can take back to my regular group, that'll be icing on the cake.
Back in my playing days I was partial to druids and rangers, I and have a couple of ideas for these classes in 5e that I'd like to try. The concepts for them are for a 4th level character, but I can easily scale things up or down. That said, I'm fine playing any race and class, if there's a specific role that needs filled in a party.
I'm mainly looking for one-off adventures because it's been so long since I've played. I'm no opposed to a long-term campaign, but I'm reluctant to commit to anything until I can get a couple of sessions under my belt as a PC.
