I have been playing D and D for about 2-ish years. I played 3.5 mostly and a little bit of 5e. I prefer 5e because it is not as complex and seems to favor certain archetypes better. I would't say i have a new player, but the DM's i have had in the past have been. 1. Acted more like a player(NPC's galore). 2. He would start a campaign and the just party wipe. 3. Went from level 4 to level 9 in a 2 hour session because of a group of Hesru Demons. He gave XP for the copies. So my experience have been more of the casual player, but i want to play a lot more than i do now.
I favor two classes. Rogues and barbarians, with slight variation. Every time i played an archer my accuracy was 10%, but when i used daggers i would lose a lot of health. This is why i tend to play more barbarians. The have my favorite type of back story and they love to fight no matter how much damage they take. They also can be diplomatic when needed.
Campaigns i prefer playing have the function of level up skills or abilities, or feats through crazy methods. Such as a combat arena, or a impossible quest to find tomes to upgrade skills or feats. Also trainers that cost a ton of gold to upgrade feats.
