The best things about roleplaying games are being surprised by group creativity and exploring unique situations where your agency can make a difference – probably why I've kept playing for the last seventeen years. I love helping new players, because their enthusiasm is electric.
I want every session to be as great as those exciting first games for everyone, so I try to be helpful and create a rich experience when I run games. For the same reason, when I play, I try to bring my A-game, to help the players and GM, and encourage everyone to have a chance at the spotlight. I want everyone in games I play in to feel comfortable, safely amongst allies, and like they have done and experienced cool stuff.
I've mostly GM'd for my groups. I tend to prefer games that are easy to learn and/or provide a lot of flavor or feeling for the effort. For the last few years I've been running houseruled OSR games (like ACKS and Stars Without Number).
Timewise, I'm in UTC-8, AKA Pacific Time in the US. As for me, I'm 30ish, love cooking, reading about history, listening to NPR, and playing video games. When it comes to media, I tend to like things that are smart, and smart enough to be good dopey fun sometimes – from adventure games (Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, Blackwell, Night in the Woods, the list goes on) to Breaking Bad to Avatar: the Last Airbender.
