Bio

He/Him, not my real name ofc. "Rival" is my gaming handle, so that's good, too. I'm on PST, so if you're on the East Coast of the United States, I'm 2 hours and 40 minutes behind. Not sure where to put this, but upfront might be best. All my characters are Bi. Just thought you should know.

I've clocked many hours in TTRPGs, but never online, I'm terrible with forum sites.
I've never posted here before and I have never played a strictly online TTRPG before, but I'm looking for a mid-term game to to join. As in "not a campaign slated for years, but also not a one-shot without time to develop characters".

I like Ninjas, Giant Robots, and Star Wars eras that aren't the Clone Wars, especially if you let me study the Dark Side.

I promise that I have an active sense of in-narrative drama and will do my best to feed the needs of the story.
I love the RP side of the game and I promise I will try my best to temper my instinct to run an edgy character while at the same time cracking OOC jokes all the time. I swear it's an epidemic at tables I've been at. I'm proud of my writing, though I know it needs tempering in the fires of a few play-by-post games...

Also, I know my interests as-written may put some people on edge, so to clarify... When I say "ninjas" I lean more Bansenshukai/Sanada Juyushi (not anime) than Naruto, I didn't get through the chuunin exams, but I know my stuff when it comes to historic/mytho-historic ninja. When I say "giant robots" I lean more Armored Core than Gundam, but am well versed in both. When I say Star Wars, I mean hit me with your canon/legends hybrid setting, my own writing treats them as intersecting multiverse branches.

I am kind of a language guy. Aside from English I can write WITHOUT CHECKING MY NOTES in hiragana, katakana, aurebesh, and ur-kittât. I haven't put much time in, and it isn't as practical, but I have been studying kittât as well. Yeah, those last few are from a galaxy far, far away.

As far as anime goes, I like anime made in the '90s. Gundam Wing, MSG, Eva, Tenchi Muyo, Sailor Moon, FLCL, various Rumiko Takahashi works, All the big OVAs of the era. I can count on my hands the number of things made since 2000 that I have been a fan of. Gundam Seed (Not Seed Destiny), Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Yuki Yuna wa Yusha de Aru (A decent Madoka imitator.) I just am not a fan of the modern commercialization, commodification, expedited gratification, and formula-conformification of stories about protags who are supposed to be relatable to the overly-humble version of the "average 20-something Tokyo-dwelling male." Not strictly so, but Shonen protags, especially. Doubly for Isekai protags, being of the edgier breed. That sounded harsher than I meant it.

If your fantasy setting does not include ninjas, I'll cope.
