I've dabbled here and there since college, about twenty-five or so years. Lately I've been playing Pathfinder 2e and Exalted, and trying to branch out.
One GM affectionately told me I "bring the chaos element" - the groups I've played with seem to enjoy my role-play style, and perhaps that's what she meant. I have a "try it and see" philosophy because I was born with more curiosity than self-preservation.
Some characters I've enjoyed are a pixie who thinks she's simply a very small orc (D&D5e), an anxious, pacifistic kholo champion (pf2e), a delusional flying zealot (Exalted), a drunken gun-slinger with a devil's deal (Old Gods of Appalachia), and a talking cat once.
