I'm a Protestant Christian, a woman, a Gen Xer, and a licensed Civil Engineer currently volunteering at Convention of States. I'm old fashioned in a lot of respects.
I prefer to play a role playing game that is inspired by solid fantasy and/or science fiction. I own many Science Fiction and some Fantasy DvDs. I also play video games. I don't prefer horror or extreme violence. Coming across a field of ghosts is not horror...
I'm listing my favorite genres and such, so you can get to know my interests in the roleplaying, gaming realms. I absolutely adore Science Fiction. My two all time favorite TV shows are Battlestar Galactica {2004} and Picard {Season 2 only}. One of my all time favorite Fantasy films is Lord of the Rings Trilogy. I definitely love fantasy, a little history, civilizations, culture and time travel. My all time favorite video game is World of Warcraft. That doesn't mean that I want to play "Starbuck" in a custom Battlestar Galactica game, but I can play an inspired character in an inspired world and game based on Dungeons and Dragons rules.
I played a homebrew game based on Pathfinder rules every other week for 1-1/2 years with a group of friends in someone's home beginning in 2018. I have played five or six few online D&D games from homebrew, 5e, and pathfinder. I just got done playing a eight months of 5e online solo campaign that went from levels five to eighteen.
What I love about D&D is the character creation, role play, character development and powers that get accumulated as well as the sessions of how the stories develop. I also like character interaction and solving problems using strategy. I also like making memories with new friends as well as fighting enemy NPCs; so if your campaign is solely exploring the world, I may not be a great fit.
