I’m a 38 years old and from Denmark. I have many years of experience both as a player and as a GM. I enjoy playing in or running games that are about cooperative storytelling, rather than “winning” the game. I can appreciate the tactical challenge of combat in some systems, but to me the most important part of a roleplaying game is the story and the character interactions. As such I tend to prefer campaigns that have a more down-to-earth story, and I don't mind if the game is on the grittier side of things.
If I sign up for your campaign, you can expect that I show up to session and keep up communication. I like to play proactive characters, who does things and take an active part in the world, rather than just react to what the GM puts out there. Working as a group, and making sure that everyone at the table is included in the story is also something that I try to make my characters work towards.
As a player I value
- A good balance between roleplay and combat with a focus on roleplay.
- Consistent time schedules.
- Player driven narratives.
- GMs who can improvise.
As a GM I value
- Players who show up on time and rarely miss sessions.
- Players who knows when to be serious and when to joke around.
- Group-minded players.
- Players who like to drive the narrative forward.
- Players who see failure not as a defeat, but as an opportunity for interesting roleplay, and driving the story forward.
Things I don’t like
- Constantly changing game schedules and short notice cancelled sessions.
- Railroading.
- Out of character drama.
- Overly passive players.
- When people don't pay attention to what's going on in the game.
