I have been a Game Master since the early 80s, running countless games and campaigns through all the editions of D&D as well as a few other Role Playing games.
Role Playing games are the best entertainment there is. It is a cooperative experience between players facing a strange, mysterious and wonderful world. It creates vivid mind pictures for those with a little bit of imagination better than any movie or computer game can.
I am running professionally a few groups online using D&D 5th edition rules. As a World Story Dungeon Master I want my games to feel immersive and gritty to my players, despite the drawback of not meeting face-to-face or not knowing each others. I prefer it when characters' achievements are not handed over by a deus ex-machina DM that railroads or fudges dice rolls to achieve specific and preset story outcomes. There is no better glory than glory achieved through group cooperation, smart decision making, and real risks in a truly open ended sandbox. And for the DM, there is no better reward than being surprised by the way the players change the world around them: The players write together their stories the way they want in the context of the story of the world.
