I started playing Table Top RPGs about 30 years ago or so. We started off with the AD&D Beginners books and grew from there into Palladium (with Robotech, Rifts, TMNT, and others), Then into GURPS, WEG (Starwars) and finally a fair bit of Vampire. Unfortunately as it is want to do, life came up and I have taken an extended break from gaming.
All in all I have probably been playing TTRPGS for about 5-10 years combined. For the most part I run games as a GM. This came out of the common occurrence of having players but no one to run the games. I absolutely loved running the game and haven't had much interest in playing since.
The games that I run tend towards the rules light end of the spectrum and are often heavy of cinematic play, intrigue, with a dash of betrayal thrown in. I try to adapt to my players and their actions. In world building this means I keep things very general and allow my players to shape the world around themselves. In game play that means if the party has spent the last hour or two trying to find out out the old eldritch door is trapped that means it it probably is now, even if it wasn't to begin with.
I'm a huge fan of GURPS and most of my experience has been with that. Recently I've acquired Dungeon Fantasy and I am very much looking forward to starting up in game in that system.
I am also a sideline fan of Open D6 (aside from their stock magic system)
