Can't turn off Dynamic Lighting- wtf

Hi all.  This is my situation: I don't have a subscription - I shouldn't be affected by Dynamic Lighting, period; I've recently DM'd two one-shots (Hungry, Hungry House and Chicken Church) and in both of them, players can't move their tokens through doors.  That notwithstanding, the walls and doors aren't a barrier if the PC's put the token on the board again;  I've searched for answers online and have come up with bugger-all. As best I understand, it's a dynamic lighting issue, and that some doors lock and become barriers.  I just want to shut the damn thing off and have a dumb map that acts like a plain old fashioned picture, not a trap to be worked around. How do I get the damn map to behave?

Wowzers! If you don't get a good response here on the Forum, please report to the Roll20 "Help Center" (link at top).  That will put you in a queue. The feature is called, something like, "Dynamic lighting walls restrict movement ". You're correct that feature should be nonfunctional on games Created By you on your Free account. That sounds like a bug or a mystery. Are you a promoted Co-GM on a table created by someone else? You're playing Modules from the Marketplace, I understand that, that's how the maps "have" walls built-in on Dynamic Light layer, but as you said that layer should not affect gaming if you're the table's creator on Free account.
I don't understand, if you don't have a subscription then when you play on a map, everyone should see everything.  Are you saying that the players can't move their tokens to open spaces on the map?  Turn off fog of war maybe?  Is that what you are confusing with dynamic lighting?  I don't think players can move into fog of war but can drop into it, thats normaly interaction.  You as the DM are suppose to clear fog from the map with the fog tool to the left.

Eddie, Mart's not saying they cannot see. He's saying they cannot move tokens across the place where the dynamic lighting "wall" (line on DL layer) would be. The "restrict movement" / "walls are barriers" feature, seems to be impacting/enabled on his game despite being Free tabletop. That line exists on a hidden DL layer, because it is a purchased Module that supports UDL.

Bizarre. You're right, it shouldn't be happening. In fact, this is the first time I've ever seen anyone report this issue. I'd suggest filing a  Help Center Request .

I haven't seen this issue reported on a Free account either, but, the most similar issue that has been experienced/reported was Pro & Plus users who "turned off" Dynamic Light but found that the walls Restrict Movement was still operating
If you go to Page Settings > Page Details for your map and scroll down, do you happen to see a "Movement" slider above the "Fog of War" slider? If so, move the slider to "Off." If you do not have such a slider, and movement restriction is enabled by default anyway, that's a really rotten situation for people with free accounts. In either event, I echo the advice to raise a ticket with the Help Center. Dynamic Lighting issues should not be interfering with games that do not have Dynamic Lighting enabled. Good luck!
Thanks for the replies, all.  Answers to questions as follows: @Gold: I opened up a new game where I'm the only DM.  No issue with other games I've opened up- Yawning Portal, SKT, and Abyss. @DM Eddie: Clever use of fog of war.   @Sarah: Just checked; nope, the dynamic lighting barriers toggle doesn't appear. I'll raise a ticket.  Thanks again!

I think most Marketplace creators leave the "Dynamic Lighting Barriers Restrict Movement" option off by default on their maps; this should be added to a best practices list, so that free users who buy their products do not experience what you did. For Roll20's part, it would be good if they added an automatic safeguard that turned the option off whenever a free user created a game, preventing hidden dynamic lighting lines from imprisoning players' tokens in a way that the GM cannot reverse. (In the meantime, you may wish to contact the creators of Hungry, Hungry House and Chicken Church about this issue so they can issue a quick patch to turn movement restriction off [as we Plus and Pro folks can easily turn it back on if we want it]; they may not be aware that this is a problem yet. This is assuming that your issue is related to being a free user installing one of those two modules, and not something else unique to your situation.)

Leaving that setting off is standard Roll20 internal practice, at any rate.
