Across the worlds, the mighty feel a tremor, a tenuous echo of some vast and impactful mystery. In Mechanus, the Universal Clock is found to be one second slow. The eternal Blood War between demons and devils pauses for only the second time since its beginnings uncountable centuries ago. In the Beastlands, the Wild Hunt falters. In Limbo, an entire clade of slaad go sane, only to shortly take their own lives. And on the Prime Material, in a land once ruled by the now-fallen Nerathian Empire, a supply caravan approaches Shaldorn Keep. Neither the wagoners nor the band of adventurers who travel with them know much of such matters. Their concerns are more immediate: banditry on the roads, the increasing frequency of raids by the goblin clans, rumors of hauntings and black magic. Yet the repercussions of grand events have a way of falling upon the small as well... -=- Hello, people. I'm looking for a couple more players for my upcoming Saturday night 5e game, beginning, hopefully, May 15. The game will be run on Roll20, using text only, though Discord may be used for communication between sessions. No microphone will be necessary. The game will be run old-school style, featuring sandbox-style adventuring and exploration in a dangerous, relatively low-magic world -- think more Conan or Game of Thrones than Lord of the Rings. I expect it to lean toward roleplaying while still having significant amounts of combat and travel, but since it's sandbox, the exact balance is partly up to the party. The initial setting is 4e's Nentir Vale, and I expect to be drawing additional inspiration from Greyhawk and from classic published modules, but anything that isn't entirely homebrew will have my own twists. Shaldorn Keep, for instance, is located at the site of the Keep on the Shadowfell, but has nothing to do with that module and is still a functioning keep protecting the Winterhaven area. Initial characters are to be created at level 1 using the 5e PHB only. Additional options are expected to open up during play. I'm also using this game to test out some house rules. Character creation guidelines and house rules can be found here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GvvcuOT2jYJeO8lsYKi5eeT7ybLiuANn/view?usp=sharing I place no limits on party composition, but if it matters to you, the existing PCs are a barbarian and a sorcerer. I have three requirements for players: You are 18+. There won't be excessive gore and there won't be "on-camera" sex, but the game may involve mature themes and language. You are reasonably fluent in written English. This is a text-based game. You're willing to follow the table rules laid out in the document linked above. These are common game etiquette. Beyond that, anyone is welcome, whether you're new or experienced. If you're interested in the game, this is what I'd like from you: Your first name, if you're willing to share it. Your age. And a little bit (paragraph or less) about: Your general character concept. Race and class is fine, a little more is great. One of your character's living friends, allies, family members, etc. who isn't with him or her on this journey. One of your character's living enemies or rivals who isn't with him or her on this journey. One location, object, or group of people from your character's past that's important to him/her.
