I've never used Roll20 to DM before so I'm feeling way behind the times (always was old school paper and physical tokens!) but I am trying to catch up as quickly as possible. Right now I'm setting up a beginner one-shot that doesn't need all the bells and whistles, other than Darkvision - I only want one of my characters to be able to see to force the newbies to learn how to communicate and work as a team. It seems the only way to accomplish this in Roll20 these days is to purchase the Pro subscription so you can use the Dynamic Lighting, but I wanted to double check there is not a way to enable darkness for all players and enable Darkvision for only 1 with the basic user account before I pay for the subscription. I have fog of war turned on, but the basic features of that are not ideal. I'm not sure I'm going to continue using Roll20 which is the only reason I haven't paid yet, but if that's the only option for opening up these features then perhaps I will explore using this for a future campaign as well.
