I'm in and I am now looking for a few brave souls to join me... I'll be purchasing this on Friday 1st Aug 2014 and running the Scenario within over Roll20, characters will be registered with Wizard of the Coasts and I've registered with D&D Insider. A bit about me, well I did it first time round with D&D in the late 70's and 80's and I have had a love of RPG's ever since. Playing mainly GURPS 4th recently. Times and suchlike... Bit up in the air but I'm GMT based so... 19.00 - 20.00 GMT likely start time, though I can be a little flexible. Looking for 5 max players I'd say for starters... Apart from that I think it speaks for itself, I hope to speak soon... Kind Regards Paul.
D&D: Basic Rules, 5th Edition
I'm definitely interested in testing out 5e, and 19-20 GMT sounds fine to me. I'm new to Roll20, so I'll have to brush up on the specifics but it looks easier to manage than Maptools. Can you specify what you mean by registering the characters with WotC? It's sad to say, but my gaming experience is strictly with Pathfinder and Paizo.

Hi Silas, Glad you're interested, I'm still looking into what I can get out of registering characters I will update you as I know more. In addition to the original information above I've found a good source of images of maps for the planned scenario, which should work very well with the Roll20 format. I believe the Starter Kit comes with some pre gen'ed characters but if people want they can roll their own. What class do you feel you lean toward Silas? To get the ball rolling.
Martin F. said: Hi Paul, If everything goes well, I'd like to play a Wizard most likely, since I just love that class. A wizard or a rogue atleast, not quite sure which one I'd prefer yet. If the 5E stealth mechanics and such are better than 4E, I'd definately love to play a rogue/thief, but yeah, a wizard or rogue. So yeah .. I'm interested Welcome aboard Martin, will keep you posted .
Hello Paul. My name is Chris and I am an experienced RPer in many different systems and settings. I'm not a native English speaker and I want to use this opportunity to practice my speaking skills. I'm an old AD&D player that was disappointed from the 3rd (3.5 fixed allot, but still) and mostly the 4th edition. I hope that the 5th will be a better experience. I live in Greece (GMT+2) so the sooner the starting time the better but not a huge problem. So if there is still room, I would really like to join your game. Kind regards and see you around the table. Chris
Sounds good Chris, if you could let me - and other players - know your favoured Class I can't see there being many problems. I'll try to keep start time as early as possible.
I prefer the role of a spellcaster or a warrior. If I can pick, then it's definitely a wizard, because ... magic. As a second pick I would go for a fighter , but not sure if I'll go for a melee or a ranged this time around.
I'd love to play, i could take the role of a battle cleric. Though if i the druid comes out i would love to try out the druid. (maybe play a flexible nature like cleric, or just kill off my character when the time comes?) if you're GMT i can play just about any day. I'm in EST time but i work the grave shift so as long as the sessions don't go over 5 hours sunday-thurs i don't see me having any scheduling difficulties.
Cool, it would appear we are getting ourselves a nice little group. With the Starter Pack coming with Pre-Gen'ed Characters I was going to suggest we start with these and offer out rebuilds when PHB is publish... Roll on Friday, once I'll have Start Pack I'll come up with a purposed start date....
cool hi all I am a gm I did 5th d&d game but like in the old day like if you need a skill you had to find someone to teach you it or a spell you have to find a power full wiz and e.g so what you think
i been do this with my old school m8 that run 2ed d&d and they like the 5th with that cobo i did
but ya if you in do old school trying to find the right ppl to get skill or find stuff to make you spell or find a wiz off the town e.g i am runing that game but in 5th D&D

Think I'm understanding you, for now though we'll go by the book as it's only couple of weeks old I'll hold fire on ripping pages out and see how it goes. To improve your English try punctuation and plurals, to be fair though it's loads better than my Greek so...
I'm happy to play the Cleric since it seems we're in need of one. I'd be fine with fighter though if the last guy wants to play cleric. I don't have very much affinity with rogue though, and wizard seems taken already. Honestly, this edition's Wizard does look pretty amazing.
Silas, Wizards slots still open for you... You asked first, I'll leave it open to you guys to hash it out when Sheets are here...
Heh, I'm alright. I wouldn't be signing up for a class I didn't want to play.
Cool as long as everyone's happy, it's the start to any good game. :)
Hi Paul, I'm a long time RP'er who hasn't payed in ages. I just discovered Roll20 this week, and played my first DnD5.0 session the other day using another's character. That has inspired me to make my own 5.0 characters. Let me know if you are interested in a: Hiil Dwarf Cleric, High Elf wIZARD, Stout Halfling Warrioi, or Lightfoot Halfling Rogue. ( I rolled them up using /r 4d6k3 )
~Wizard ~Warrior (Whoops) :-D Here are the characters if you want to look at them https://app.roll20.net/join/470071/Dq_D-A
Will do, and thanks.
Were you able to view the Character sheets?
Don't know if you still have room but I'd love to join you guys on this. I've already DM'd a couple sessions of 5e and have really been enjoying it but I'd like to get some experience on the other side of the screen. As for experience I've been playing and DM'ing 4e since its release and played some 3.5 prior to that. I've also played a bit of Pathfinder. I don't have any aims on a particular class as it seems you already have a good spread, but I'd be willing to fill any party composition holes that may exist.
If you want, i can play a rogue instead of cleric if you want it Silas. i LOVE the new rogue class in this game. I haven't looked at the rogue in the link but i really enjoyed the rogue in the play test. So as of right now we have Timothy: Warrior Kirby: Rogue Silas: Cleric Christos: Wizard I think?
That looks okay to me, if everyone else is happy? We could possible squeeze one more in if you wanted Joe, I will let you look over alternatives when I upload sheets on Friday at some point. Though I will consider future applications, these will either be forming of a second later group or replacement players should someone drop out. I'd like to thank everyone for their interest and look forward to getting things up and running asap. Kind Regards.

Oh I'd like to pencil in next Sunday as a gaming day if possible, this being 3rd of August 2014. If people could let me know their availability that would be good.
Sunday would work for me. The Starter Set comes with two Fighter pre-gens in addition to the Cleric, Rogue and Wizard, so I'd be fine with playing the other Fighter.
Paul, If you are planning on playing next Sunday it makes sense to open the campaign now so that we can all build our characters before the game starts. If any of us were 'supporter/mentor' we could use the 'Character Vault' to save+transfer characters from other locations instead of doing full rebuilds. (ie: copy/paste)
We'll most likely be using Pre-Gen'ed Characters, but will keep you posted. I have opened game and am toying with maps as we speak. Kind Regards
Sunday is ok for me as well. See you all around the table
BTW I found the Pre-Gen'ed characters' sheets if you want to have a look. You can download them from WotC through http://media.wizards.com/downloads/dnd/StarterSet_Characters.pdf
Very helpful, thank you very much..
I'd have to know the day of the week, but I might be interested. In the very least I would be willing to be of assistance if you are looking for any in running the campaign (or roll 20 questions). I am running 2 D&D 5e groups, one on Sundays and one on Mondays. I am GMT -5, so 19-20 would be 3PM or 4PM US Eastern?? I think. I get home either 4PM or 4:45PM (split) most days (Us Eastern Time).
Thanks Bryan. We have one full group and if you are interested 3 for a second. I'm in the process of uploading maps for a second Scenario which if you're interested I'll put you forward to and of course if anyone drops out I'll juggle players about... I will most likely pick your brain for 5e tips if that's okay, if fact if you have any pointers feel free to PM me... Kind Regards
I'd be interested in some 5E games. Sunday or Tues-Thurs works for me, EST (so anything that ends by 11 PM EST is okay). Not sure I am sold on the system, but willing to give at least a few sessions a go to see how it sticks.
I am interested in joining a group for 5E. I'm EST and most weeknights will work for me, but I could be flexible. I should mention that I haven't played TTRPGs in a very long time, and would need a group welcoming to new players.
I'm actually pretty new to D&D and BRAND NEW to Roll20 but played a lot of WoD and Star Wars: Saga Ed years ago. It looks like these groups are pretty full, but since I'm hoping to jump right in as a DM with 5E if there's room I'd love to just sit in and watch some of these sessions. Let me know if that's an option.
Hey all, Apologies but I'm going to have to delay this as Forbidden Planet in Cambridge has sold out of copies of the D&D Next Starter Pack. I have reserved a copy along with PHB but these won't arrive until the PHB is released to sale. Sorry for the inconvenience and I will keep you posted. This does give me a little longer to update campaign though. Kind Regards. Paul.
