Realistic Characters needed for Strategic Fantasy Roleplay

Official Group Listing I am a GM, and I am looking for players who are as much interested in creating a believable character as they are in taking on fun challenges. I have a new fantasy campaign called "Dreamscapes" that I've been playing with some friends, and I've decided I'm ready to bring it to the online world. Though it is a custom RPG, many of the same dynamics and principles of most RPGs, D&amp;D in particular, still apply, such as perception checks for examining one's surroundings, and charisma checks to negotiate. It has been simplified somewhat for the sake of creating a more board-game-like experience, but the spirit of collaborative storytelling still remains. Rather than bore you with mechanics, I have a series of PDFs and screenshots that will give you a general idea of what is to be expected. For loremongers, there is a bit of background information on the world, but smaller details such as names of towns and people will be developed together by the party through 'shared dreams', in which the player will occasionally have to make up details about their character's past to give context as to why they are the way they are. Feel free to ask me any questions and let me know if you're interested. I live in Toronto (that's EST) and am mostly available on weeknights other than Tuesday.
I'd be interested in playing depending on when.
Sounds interesting. I'd be interested in participating, but I probably won't have a very flexible schedule, as I'm a very busy student. Will this be a problem?
We'll see, my schedule changes all the time, so we might have to change days on certain weeks. Two of my long distance friends might also be interested so I'll see what they say. Also, if you can't make a huge commitment that's okay, as I've set up the campaign in a way that characters can drop in and out without disrupting the story, so don't feel bad if you decide it's not for you.&nbsp;

I'd love to join then, and see how things go! In general, it sounds like something I'd really enjoy, as I've always loved the character/story end of things.
I'm interested as well.&nbsp; I just need to know what time and other details.
I'm may be interesting, depends on time and details
The campaign is all set up. I'd be ready to start a game as soon as this week, probably Wednesday or Thursday in the afternoon or evening, and I can go quite late. For your convenience, I will post basic information on game mechanics and character creation for your perusal on the campaign's forum , but don't feel pressured to learn it all, as I'll conduct a tutorial once the game starts. Also, you're welcome to use webcam/voicechat, but I'd like that to be used for OOC discussion, and use the chatbox for Roleplaying. You're welcome to LARP and talk in character, but we'll consider the chatbox as the final draft of what you're character is saying, as it's easier for those of us with less acting experience. For those without a microphone, I believe the chatbox has a function that lets you toggle in and out of character chat.
Sounds like fun! I'm not certain how to join someone's campaign-is there a link I'm simply missing?
When the game is launched, I'll send you the url. You just have to copy it and it will take you straight into the game. I think you can also join from this page once it's started: <a href="https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/details/105806/dreamscapes-online" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/details/105806/dreamscapes-online</a>
It sounds like it would be a very good place to start for someone like me and having a flexible schedule would be nice because I have classes in the afternoon mon-thurs(PST) just give me a date and I would love to join you.
Does thursday at 8:00(EST) work for everyone? This doesn't have to be a permanent time but if you're available we can start this week.
Hi there! I've read all the documentation, and the premise/setting has me interested. I'm fairly new to tabletop RPGs in general, only having DMed a few homebrew DnD and CoC games for me and a few friends. I'd like to join if possible... though I'm fairly sure my schedule will conflict, I figured I'd ask anyway. (I have work Mon-Thurs from 2-8pm PST, so I'm only available in the mornings and Fri/Sat/Sun.)
Official group listing:&nbsp; <a href="https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/3838/dreamscapes-online" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/3838/dreamscapes-online</a> Thanks for asking, Chantal, we'll try to get you in if we can. I get to sleep in on weekdays, which means I'm usually up late anyways, so I'd be willing to run a super late game if that works for you, like say 11:30PM-2:30AM (I think that's 8:30-11:30 PST). &nbsp; That might be okay with Nicholas if his classes are in the afternoon, and the others haven't specified any particular times so it might be okay. Could we say Thursday at 11:30pm EST (8:30pm PST)? For those of you who are still planning to join, if you'd like to take advantage of Roll20 character customization capabilities, feel free to link pictures that you wish to use on your character sheets. I also have a tool that lets me turn pictures into tokens if you don't want to use one of the default Roll20 ones. I just realized I created the campaign, but hadn't listed it in LFG yet, which means my previous links probably weren't working. If you'd like to apply to join the party, follow this&nbsp; link &nbsp;and post your availability, and any pictures you'd like me to insert into your character sheet. The following is some information that might help you decide what you want your character to look like. Stuff to think about when you create your character: As of this moment, there are 3 playable races: Human, Elf, and Dwarf. You are permitted to make your character any variant of these 3 races, such as a druid or a cross-breed, but their stats will fall under 1 of the 3 categories. Cross-breeding is possible in this world, but whereas certain genes controlling skin colour and facial features are blended, all anatomy concerning your stats such as size and weight are controlled by dominant genes, meaning even if you have a human father and an elvish mother, as far as your stats are concerned you are either one or the other. Dwarves start with more Health and less Energy, Elves have more Energy and less Health, and Humans are in the middle. There are also 3 classes, and each has 2 specializations: Warrior (Knight/Berserker), Rogue (Marksman/Theif), and Mage (Sorcerer/Oracle). You're welcome to make portraits yourselves, but if you lack artistic ability like me your best bet is to google fantasy portraits and find one you like.
I made a post in the main group this game sounds like good fun and i would like to join.i want to make a knight.
Thanks for the reply, Tristan. 8:30-11:30 would work perfectly for me, as long as you and the other players don't mind staying up late, that is.&nbsp; And darn, I see David beat me to the knight. I suppose I'll try for a Berserker or Marksman, then. Should I go make a post on the campaign page?
Tristan M. said: Does thursday at 8:00(EST) work for everyone? This doesn't have to be a permanent time but if you're available we can start this week. I can do 8:30, but I'm only available for an hour to an hour and a half.
Well I'm worried we might not get very far in an hour, and the party will be too small after you leave, so I'll need at least 1 other person to confirm for tomorrow in order to launch the game. I'm available all day tomorrow, so in the interest of saving time, I can sign in earlier to help you create your character before the campaign starts. How about 10:00 EST (7:00 PST)? In the event we can't get another person to confirm by tomorrow night, you can still come and we'll focus on character creation, and wait til next week to see if more players are interested. I've got a lot of exciting challenges and stories set up for you and I look forward to playing with you. I'll send you all invites so you can log in. Also Chantal, you can still be a knight. The classes are versatile enough that a knight with high fitness and heavy armor will be drastically different from a knight with light armor and high intellect, so don't worry about that. Just worry about making the character that you want to make. I'll send you all the invites tonight. Also, you need to either post on the campaign forum, or link me your email address so I can invite you to the game.
I can fill in a spot if you still need one. I can draw up any character class that would fit the party best.
Chantal if you want knight I would gladly play marksmen.
Looks like we have enough people, so the game's a go provided everyone logs in at 11:30pm EST, Thursday night. If you're available, come early at 10:00pm to work out any bugs and get a head start on character creation. Remember there's a post in the campaign forum with more details to help you decide on your character.
I would be interested in joining in if you still have room. I posted on your group page.
I am interested in playing if there is room as well. This will be my first time online, though I have played DnD many years ago.
I wish it was not in PDF form.
As do I Carter, but unfortunately if I try to upload it as a word document it messes up the formatting. Even as a PDF there are lines on the page that were not present in the original document.
I am very interested! Please contact me if you still need players.
I'd be interested in playing if there's still space available.
I am interested&nbsp;just need to figure out how this&nbsp;certain&nbsp;character&nbsp;sheet works. I have a flexible&nbsp;schedule&nbsp;as long as it is in the evenings from around 7-9PM
If I can figure out the game stuff then I would be&nbsp;interested (and able) to play.
I'm interested in playing with you guys. I'm getting back into D&amp;D and need to almost relearn the game. I will be able to function fine when playing after I get the basics done. If I need to know anything I would obviously ask (I mean doesn't everyone though? XD), but besides that I have played before, I have experience with the game and my schedule is very flexible, but I do work some nights (Random Scheduled) anywhere from 4PM to 10PM EST. (Get home between 10:30-11:30PM) If this is too much then that's fine. I'm just currently looking for a nice Campaign with nice people. I'm very nocturnal, so even when I get off of work I am up till around 3-5AM. I'm available after work this Wednesday and Thursday at 11PM. (Depending on what day you start) So I'll be waiting for a reply! (Also if you need me before that date to make a Character and give me a short briefing that would be fine as well. I can use anything from Skype to Team Speak. If I don't have the form of communication needed I can download it. :) Again, I'll be looking forward to your reply!
Would this game accept a completely inexperienced player?
Hey I'm interested in playing. New to this site and table top games but I'm interested and can fall into things quickly. I'll read over all the links you posted and begin thinking of a character. Id be happy if someone got back to be with details. I'm on the east coast and some days don't get home till 9:30 but otherwise capable of being pretty dedicated to a&nbsp;campaign,
