[LFDM][D&D5e][18+] Two very experienced players looking for a DM so we can build a campaign from the ground up!

Hello! My name is Desmond! And if you've made it this far, hopefully, I can convince you to tell us why you want to play with us :) As the title suggests, my good and long time friend (Jake) and I are looking to start a brand new adventure. We both have 7+ years of DnD experience (online and in-person) and my roleplay experience varies from text-based stuff, and lethal dungeon runs, all the way to no combat narrative-only styled games. We both are extremely familiar with the rules and can handle pretty much anything you could conceivably throw at us, but a laid back style of gameplay would suit us just as well. We both love narrative-focused stories, but we're really looking for a game with an immersive character-driven story. We are looking for a DM, but both of us are incredibly experienced in that department as well. If you are thinking of making an application, but are worried about our standards or something like that, don't feel pressured; we'd like to, and are more than willing to, work with you in crafting a game that we all can enjoy. Both of us know how much work DMing can be sometimes, and you have my word that we're both very dedicated players who enjoy interacting with the world our characters inhabit. As for genres, we'd really be up for anything (though Jake has vetoed Noir and Modern settings). We've done everything: horror, mystery, strictly comedic, expansive dramas—classic sword and sorcery... You name it. So it's really about what would be most fun for all of us and is something definitely open for discussion. We've been working on some character ideas as well, but likely that sort of thing will change based on the setting/world we end up playing in. We were also thinking about some more players? But for now, we wanted to find a DM with like-minded goals and a personality we mesh with. At the end of the day, we're two friends and longtime players who're expanding outside our usual group hoping to find new players to build a rapport with. What I want from you: Your experience. What kind of games have you run before? Your favourite memories/iconic moments? What's the coolest or most memorable character you've seen someone play? What about your  worst experiences/characters? Your goals. Why'd this post attract you? What kind of game are you looking to run? Possible Genres? Then tell me a little about yourself! You can be creative or minimalist (I'm definitely not judging you, I swear. >.>)
I run 3.5 but if you are interested you can DM me on discord. taibhsear#7908
Hi. Desmond + Jake. What time zone are you in, and what days and times within that zone?   << Asking for the community answering this, as we DM Games from around the world. I live in Thailand, at GMT+7, so I run games for Players in EST Starting at 9 PM, PST 6 PM, most weekdays.  So usually West Coast players, or MTN, or CST.   But I sometimes pick up Australian players in the mornings.  Rarely, a UK / German player up in the middle of the night.  First off, is Modern considered what? Espionage/ Action 2021? I am setting up two games, to start in a few weeks.  1. Post-Apoc Character-driven Grim & Gritty Survival, via Twilight 2000 4th edition.  So perhaps that is a non-starter, because it is Paramilitary, Gritty Realism Military, but set in Europe 20 years ago? 2. Low Fantasy, Low Magic, Grim and Gritty Realism rules, Mature GrimDark "Joe Abercrombie" Themes,  D&D 5th Edition, the heroes are living in a dying Magocracy, set upon on all sides by Warlocks, Witches, Bandits, and fell denizens from the Underdark. I've run Games for 44 Years.   Traveller, since 1977. Space Opera. D&D since 1979 1st Edition. Gamma World Star Frontiers. Twilight 2000, all editions.  World War III Europe, collapse of society, Nuclear winter is in the offing. Every Star Wars, and Star Trek variant edition ever in Print, up to the Modern day Versions. Rolemaster, Spacemaster, Cyberspace, Middle Earth RPG (All By Iron Crown, in the 80s and 90s.) R. Talsorian's Cyberpunk 2020. Savage Worlds Recon, the RPG of the Vietnam War. Mechwarrior, plus Battletech, walking tanks in the year 3025. (I used to have 50 milk crates full of games.)   My Preferred Fantasy Rules set is One Ring, 1st Edition. Most Memorable Moment was a new group to One Ring, here on Roll20, 6 years ago. I recruited for a month, most of the players were Tolkien Fans. I had a player who was a coder, he made up custom dice to match the Tabletop version.   We had ELEVEN Players, basically anyone who wanted to join the game, we let them in since we were all fans, and no one else was willing to run it for groups of more than 6, so we merged  a budding group.   I had already mastered the rules because I had been running it since 2012 for four years already, out of a hobby shop in Pittsburgh, PA USA, and also a home game.   So this Roll20 One Ring group starts this hand-written scenario. We had 4 Hobbit Characters, Two Dwarves, a Ranger of the North, Two Elves, and 2 Humans, one from Laketown, and one who was living West of Mirkwood. We started the game. The task was to relieve a Dwarven King who had sent for help as orcs were at the fortress gates, outnumbering the defenders 6 to 1.  A difficult Journey over hills, mountains, and rivers. They carried a letter that had been brought to Laketown, by a dying young dwarf.  They managed, by luck to save him, when the elves found herbs to help, by the banks of the river. So, traveling overland, they have to persuade a different Dwarven king, based only on the strength of the plea letter, and the fact that the leading Dwarf was an accomplished officer, and part of a noble Dwarven clan leadership. He lent them a small force of 500 Dwarves ready to march, with the promise of more.  They ended up sneaking in the back way of the besieged fortress, discovered a betrayer who was going to open the gates, he was killed by orcs, they defended the local king, counter-attacked, and kicked ass in a few sorties long enough  for the relief forces to arrive. I kept trying to stop the session at 4 hours, 8 hours, but in the end, we all had time, and They all universally begged me to keep going. I had maps,  theme music, emotional music, etc etc.  We wrapped that game up THIRTEEN HOURS LATER. For the First Session. What's the coolest or most memorable character you've seen someone play? Too many to list.  A Jedi that fell to the Dark, and was redeemed when he slew his dark master, came to balance, and retired. What about your  worst  experiences/characters? Worst experience was on Roll20 as a player, this guy was running Numenera, our group started out without notice chained naked to a dungeon wall. The GM says, "This guy in a clown mask, unlocks the cell, comes in, and is disrobing." The GM explains to us in grisly detail talking about how he craves manflesh, and the scent of fear, and soon we will all scream for mercy. This was 5 minutes into the game, we all quit. We have no explanation for this GM. Your goals. Why'd this post attract you? What kind of game are you looking to run? Possible Genres? I am looking for players for My Twilight 2000 Campaign. Pretty Enthusiastic. I ran the game for 8 years in America, Multiple Campaign, using the older Editions. I used to run a group of Gamers in Pittsburgh, it was a gaming club of 500 players, called Steel City Gamers. I left and handed it over, as I was leaving America to retire to Thailand.  I am an indie film producer, bit actor in films, and was a voice actor in multiple small independent productions. Now I write Space Opera and Fantasy Novels.

Unfortunately, we ended up taking another offer :(   Still, thanks for taking the time to reach out, I hope you find some good players for your games and make some good memories.
Thanks for responding so quickly I hope that you find the game that you're looking for and thank you for your nice comment. I've been here forever since Roll20 started. Welcome to the community, Desmond and Jake.
