[LFP][FREE][5E] Looking for Curse of Strahd players! [OPEN]

Hello, everyone! My name is Breanna, and I'm currently DMing a modified (as you do) version of Curse of Strahd. Recently, a couple players had to drop, and I've been wanting to give the campaign a little bit of... new blood, you could say, by adding a few more people to the party! As mentioned, the campaign has been modified and changed up, so even if you've played CoS before, it should be a whole new experience. For one, I started the game from the other end of the map and follow a more linear process of A to Z. So far the group has covered around two and a half chapters, as well as one homebrew side quest. The game's not in its infancy but it's still very much learning to walk, so to speak. This means newcomers wouldn't be dropping in midway through the campaign and miss a lot of what has happened. But I will be doing a little recap to give an idea, that way you can decide if you're comfortable i.e. maybe this is too late for you, maybe this is just a fine place for you to start, and whatnot. (It'll be at the very end of this post marked with spoilers--while elements of the plot have been altered, it still has plenty of canonical content.) Here's what we're looking for: Game time is 10 AM AZ MST USA every Sunday; sessions usually run 3 hours (10AM to 1PM) You must be at least 21+ years old You must be comfortable with horror and spooky scary stuff (and a little gore here and there); explicit sexuality is reserved for DMs between players and not allowed in game Games are played on roll20, voice chat is done on Discord This should go without saying, but racism, sexism, homophobia, and any hate of any kind will absolutely not be tolerated, and if you're uncomfortable with anything mentioned above, do not respond to this post; behavior of this sort will instantly kick you from the group, no ands, ifs, or buts. You can be a veteran of D&D or a total newcomer; I've been playing and DMing for years now and I still get confused with mechanics and rules. The point is to be patient and respectful... which you should be regardless. Don't expect this game to follow the rules too rigidly either. This game is going for a party focusing on neutral and/or good alignments, but those are always subject to change, so keep this in mind for character creation; needless to say, no murder hobos This campaign is a combination of RP and combat, please be comfortable and open with both! If you can meet the guidelines above, then please feel free to respond. However, before you do, I implore you to think up a character and give a little pitch. Even if it's just "I was thinking of bringing in a firbolg cleric". It doesn't need to be a resume, but it gives us an idea of what to expect and how you play. The campaign currently has three active members; the party consists of: Alistair (half elf wizard), Lai'rei (wereraven artificer), and Maria (human variant druid). Keep them in mind if you're one who likes to focus on rounding out parties. QUICK SUMMARY OF GAME SO FAR ( SPOILERS FOR COS) : A party of adventurers have found themselves trapped in Barovia after discovering a pack of werewolves have kidnapped children from the city of Daggerford. Speaking with the Vistani, a people native to Barovia, they learn of the dread plane's cursed tyrant king, Strahd von Zarovich. The group defeated the divided clan of werewolves, in the process forming an alliance with the werewolves who were opposed to the kidnappings. The party resolve to find a way to lift Strahd's curse, or die trying; they encounter druids upon the ancient Yester Hill and fight monstrous creatures terrorizing small villages. After being informed they might uncover further information on Strahd at the Amber Temple, the group explore the mostly abandoned edifice, surprisingly befriending an amnestic lich who guides them through the catacombs where they face more creatures and temptations of great power. The group is nearly finished exploring the Amber Temple (with a few changes and a few new faces), and will hopefully be gaining more allies... I do detailed recaps of each session in the campaign's forum, so new players are free to peruse them for a more fleshed out account of the campaign so far. This also includes NPC and PC guides. As I said, we're looking for at least 3 new players (4 if we wanna push it). I will respond in DM to those we've chosen. Once we've made our decisions, I'll include an edit to this post stating the offer is closed and due for future deletion. If I haven't responded to you by the time the edit goes up, it means the players have been chosen. Thanks for your time! EDIT: Thanks for all the responses! Group is currently deliberating and hopefully by Sunday/the following week, we'll have made our choices and contact those picked!
I am interested in joining; I have not played CoS before or read through it (despite owning the book) but I have been playing RPGs in general since 2006 and have a lot of experience. I was thinking of stepping away from my more magical based characters (i.e. Warlocks and Sorcerers) and think I want to make a Half-Orc Fighter; one who was raised in Human Nobility due to a unfortunate circumstances in his creation. He was raised by his Human mother who was a Noble and who became some what of a Knight. I have 4000 other ideas if we need something different because I spend most of my days coming up with different ideas.

Hi, my name is Jay, I'm 23 years old and I've been playing dnd for 5 years now. I love reading, writing, drawing, and playing videogames. Some of my favorite videogames are Resident Evil, Little Nightmares, Borderlands, Persona and Devil May CryI'm very interested in this campaign because I hear that it is Gothic horror and Gothic horror is my favorite genre of horror. I am very invested in the themes of good and evil and how good and evil are defined based on the author's beliefs and values. I also like to be scared because of the adrenaline. Additionally I enjoy examining the deeper meanings they convey, like how Frankenstein is a subversive analogy of the creation of man in the book of genesis, conveying how man should not play God, because there will be irreparable consequences. They allow the audience to explore a different type of world through their imagination and the writers imagination showing hidden desires or curiosity. It's interesting how gothic horror combines both horror and romance so gives a very different twist to the usual romance story. I find it fascinating how gothic horror plays with minds and causes the audience to question reality. I also like the atmospheric settings which invoke a sense of danger but also freedom. Lastly, I like how gothic horrors can be a constant battle of beauty vs. grotesque, highlighting the juxtaposition of those subjects. My character concept is a homebrew human/dhampir vampire pact warlock named Amahle. She is a human that is a descendant of a vampire goddess. She was born to extremist religious parents that were very abusive towards her because she has certain vampiric characteristics. When her father found out that she was not really his, he made her mother kill her. In Amahle's dying breath she prayed to any god that would answer her for salvation. Her ancestor answered and healed her wounds. Amahle killed her parents and went to be raised by a coven that worships her ancestor. She is now a high priestess who wants to spread her ancestors influence as much as possible. I have several other character ideas if this one doesn't work.
Hey, my name is Cc, I'm 23. I have tried to play curse of strahd with a couple of groups before but it has always ended up falling through. My fiance whose 26 and I were really wanting to join a game and Sunday is perfect for us because we work the rest of the week. We both have a good amount of experience with D&D. I almost always go either bard or warlock, I had a fire genasi warlock called Pandora I've not really gotten a chance to play she's very fiesty, curious and always protects her friends. My fiance almost always go barbarian and usually likes to play human because he likes being tanky. Like I said I'm not sure if you still have room, if not totally understand. My email is sierra.haycraft453@outlook.com (not sure how messaging back works on roll 20)

Hey, my name is Xanaste. Everyone usually just calls me Xan. I am 34 years young. I actually was dming a Curse of Strahd game until April this year when some real life stuff happened and I was forced to take a month off. My group ended up disbanding because of this and I've been looking at finding another group to run with (not dm) until the rest of my irl stuff gets situated. I love the setting and I think Strahd is the best D&D villain bar none. I'm leaning towards either a gold dragonborn paladin (sort of a Dudley Do Right character) or aasimar cleric (who constantly is trying to spread the good news of his god, Pelor). Been playing 5e for 5 years and dming for about that same amount. Let me know if you ever wanna hear some of the shenanigans my players found themselves in.

Hey there, this looks really interesting! I've made a post in LFG recently about me so I'll just link that instead of copy pasting it here. the time works out for me so I'd be excited to join your group! If you're interested be sure to send me a pm here! edit to add: I am a completely new player so I don't really have an idea yet what kind of character I would play, but I'm open for almost anything.
Well hey. I'm Remy. I'm 31, I have 21 years of experience playing D&D. If you still need player, let me know. It's easier to reach me on discord PaganWolfe#7880

"Atrast Vala!" I am Jason, most who know me though just call me Apoc. I am 41 years old and have been playing D&D for over 23 years. I love the game and I would very much like to find a group to play with! I am on here nearly every day and DM several games a week but it would be nice to be on the other side of the screen for a change! I am very familiar with roll20 and with the 5e system as well. I can RP with the best of em' and tend to lean more towards characters that play heavy support rolls/utility than beat-m-up types an frontliners I hope to hear from you soon! My character concept is a Dwarven cleric of the Forge Domain. I life long soldier who closely follows the Dwarven "Tactics of the Stout", and the teachings of Phyghe the Dwarven god of the forge. "I do not pray for lighter burdens, I pray for stronger shoulders for you are the Anvil and I am your hammer. In your name Great EversmithI shall strive to shape the world into a better place for all those that dwell beneath your forge! For there is no adversity that cannot be overcome, for every trial of this world is the fires of the Great forge that tempers the soul, reveals ones metal and purifies ones spirit. Partha-par Salrokah! Mek Valos Atredum!"
Hey, my name is Austin and i’m very much interested in joining your campaign. I am a 28 tear old 3rd grade teacher. I’m an avid horror fanatic who loves and is obsessed with dark content. I’m big into comics, gaming, and dnd. I’m an experienced player with a little DM experience. Your campaign sounds like it would be a blast to join. My character concept is a reborn/warforged that was brought back to life, due to a pact he made with a warlock patron. Using his last breath he swore revenge. He was brought back in a body that is made to kill, bug has no memories of who he was. All he carries is a name other than his own and an intense desire for revenge. So it would be a reborn or warforged warlock/rogue. This can be tweaked to fit your campaign better.
Hi I'm Tomas, I'm 40 years old and I'm Norwegian, but speak English fluently, and the timeslot you've indicated is perfect for me. I have 15+ years of DM and player experience playing d&d, Warhammer fantasy/40k roleplay and cthulhu. I've also played gtarp for a while now, and because of that I have a studio microphone. Your combination of rp and combat is my preferred way to play, and I don't mind jumping into an existing campaign. A little bit about my roleplay philosophy; I think rp is a collaborative storytelling device, and I love the spontaneously evolving situations that a group of players, lead by a dm can create. I enjoy it most when everyone is focused on the game during play, and keep derailments to a minimum, but there must be room for some quick quips and jokes if it doesn't take away from the overall experience and immersion. Off topic talk can be done after the session. I love playing quirky characters that don't necessarily fit the standard RPG archetypes, but I'm also fine to play a standard fantasy archetype. I hope you find this interesting enough to give me a shot at your table and am looking forward to hearing from you.
Hey, I'm Jen, and if there's still a slot open in this campaign, I'd love to volunteer for it! I'm in my late 20's, and live in Ireland, so I'd be in GMT, and the timeslot suits me perfectly! I've been playing D&D for about 7 years, as both a DM and a player, though I've never played Curse of Strahd. My character idea is essentially an Oath of the Crown Paladin. A goliath who was raised as a Ward by an Elven royal family. Hence, she's very ladylike and genteel and also 8 foot tall and built like a brick shithouse. Due to various diplomatic reasons, it suddenly became unseemly to have a Goliath ward in the royal court, so she was sent off adventuring on what is essentially a gap year.
Hey, I'm Squid. It's what my friends call me. If you can fit me in that'd be great. I got at least 6-7 years of experince under my belt and a pretty good track record of showing up on time. I've played through the house of death bit but not much further, usually I get bad luck and the DM quits or the group just disintegrates. My Character is pretty much ready to go; an "Echo Knight" Charlatan. A man of mystery and Red Herrings; he claims to have his hands in every kings pocket, every Criminal warlord at his call, and wealth beyond your wildest imagination. His History isn't important, what is important is what he's going to do and how he's going to do it.
Greetings, my name is Arsen Crowley but you may know me by my stage name, Awren Crownly lady of the court. I am seeking companions to travel with and at great haste, as long as path moves onward for it is not safe for me remain in one place long or let me true name gain renown. Although I am of good nature and helpful to those who's life I tough, I have made mistakes in the past that haunt me to this day. My friendship may not be the safest choice, but my life is without boredom, for all the world is a stage and we are merely players.
