Howdy, fellow nerds. Much as I LOVE being a dungeon master, I don’t have the time to run multiple games with other obligations and how extensive the work already is for my current homebrew campaign, SO I’m interested in hopping into another game as a player to get a little time on the other side of the DM screen (it’s been awhile!). I have extensive experience in D&D 5e, am very familiar with the rules, and have most of the books on my D&D Beyond master tier subscription, so it’s super easy for me to look something up when clarification is needed, and will more than likely be using D&D Beyond to manage my character sheet (it’s just so dang convenient). What I want in a game: I love high fantasy, I love magic, and I LOVE story! While I love combat, dungeon crawls, puzzles, and all that good crunchy stuff, the narrative elements of D&D have always been the most important to me. The experience of communal storytelling with a group of good people rolling dice is unparalleled when the whole group is committed to role play, character-building, and world-immersion and I believe the responsibility for that is both on the DM and the players. I want to explore the player characters. I want their backstories, their goals, their connections, their relationships, their choices to tie into the game and matter. I’m a big proponent for personal PC narrative beats being interwoven with whatever the DM’s grander schemes for the world and campaign at large might be! What I bring to the game: Commitment! I’m a dungeon master first and foremost, with a penchant for story, so you can be confident that I will commit to role play (and probably even do a voice), that I’ll be interested in your world and it’s characters, and that I’ll do what I can to give the investment and enthusiasm that a table needs and a DM craves from their players. I want my character to fit into your world, so I’m more than happy to discuss ideas and options and to make changes to whatever backstory I may be working with to better situate my character into your existing lore. Furthermore, I create characters (so, SO many NPCs) so frequently and see such potential in every stat, race, and class that I am more than willing to create a PC of any class to suit a party’s needs, mechanically, in terms of rounding out the group’s abilities. Is the group missing a healer? Great, I’ll play a cleric. Short on spellcasters or utility/support abilities? Great, I’d love to dig into a wizard, Druid, or sorcerer. Need someone to get up in the thick of it to protect your squishies? I’ve got a great idea for a Paladin. Oh, you already have a Paladin? Cool, I’ll pull together a bloodhunter or a barbarian. It’s all what you make of it, and I think I can do a lot with any class. For the gaming sessions: I think body language, facial expressions, and the ability to speak to one another are such key things in making D&D, especially the way I like to play it, an incredible game. Thus, I’m only really interested in joining a game that uses both camera and voice chat. I have a webcam and (as a recording musician) quite a nice microphone as well. I’d actually even love to join a game that streams or releases VODs and have a bit of experience with that sort of thing too, having recorded, edited, and released several episodes of my own home game as a podcast before time just didn’t allow me to keep up with all the technical work for the podcast on top of game prep as a DM. That’s all I can think of for now! Feel free to reply to this or message me directly with questions or opportunities!
