Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online (Roll20, possibly plus Discord if the players prefer) Experience Required: Some Schedule: Any day other than Friday, 2:00-5:30 pm or 7:00-10:30 pm, Eastern Standard Time Group size: 3-5 Game style: Dungeon Crawl, mix of roleplay, combat, and resource management Overview Near the small town of Oakhurst lies the Sunless Citadel, a centuries-old sunken ruin whose purpose has been long forgotten. This strange place is the center of many mysteries. Besides the rumors of treasure, it is the source of a strange fruit sold by the goblins living within, one that cures any ailments when consumed. Though the townsfolk try to plant the seeds, the saplings always vanish a year after they sprout, no doubt stolen or destroyed by the goblins to keep their monopoly. A group of adventurers recently entered the structure, but have yet to return even after the passage of a month. Rumors abound of what happens in that place: a dragon cult? An orchard of trees bearing these miraculous fruit? The experiments of some nefarious wizard? No one knows... will you be the ones to find out? This campaign will be for 3-5 level 1 characters. While I will be running a module, I will be making my own alterations, both to improve upon it and to help tailor it to my players. The first session will be a session 0, meant to ensure everyone knows the rules and has their characters completed. Session 0 will be free, as there will be no actual gameplay. Gameplay sessions will last 3-4 hours. Rules of the Road The available books for content are as follows: Player's Handbook. Fair game, though you can use the half-orc stats for full orcs. Dragonborn will be buffed. Xanathar's Guide. Everything is fair game. Volo's Guide: Kenku, Goblins, Orcs, Hobgoblins, Kobolds, and Goliaths are fair game, though specifics may be modified. Anything else, ask first. I should note that most "monster races" aren't always evil in my setting. Mordenkainen's Tome: None of the elves, tieflings are fair game. Tasha's Cauldron: Spells are fair game, Artificer is allowed, flexible scores are allowed for any non-mountain dwarf. Ask me first on any other given optional rule or subclass. Eberron: Artificer is allowed, the orcs are allowed, nothing else. Theros: If everyone is OK with it, we can use the Piety rules, though I will be using different gods. Anything else: Ask me first. If I didn't list a book, then it either has no player options in it or I simply don't have it. Homebrew is allowed after review, races are likely to get in, don't suggest entirely new classes. The Deep Beckons I will be using some homebrew changes both to improve aspects I feel are lacking and to make the game feel darker and more dangerous, where every shadow could hide your demise. - Light now requires concentration. - Create Food and Water and goodberry are banned. -The current spear is the shortspear. Longspears cost the same amount, but have reach and disadvantage on attacks against creatures within 5 feet, similar to lances. They are still d6 one handed, d8 two. -Darkvision is much more limited. Most races with darkvision instead have low-light vision , which treats dim light as bright light but does not allow seeing in darkness. Subterranean creatures, such as dwarves and drow, can have real darkvision, but this only reaches out 30 feet always comes paired with sunlight sensitivity. -Intelligence now it grants an additional skill, tool, or language if you have at least 13. -Warlocks may choose to cast with intelligence instead of charisma. -At the very least, food and ammunition will be tracked. If the players agree, I may implement simplified encumbrance. -When you drop to 0 HP, you gain an injury, which gives a level of exhaustion until treated (requires a DC 10 medicine check, a use of a healer's kit, and a short rest, check succeeds automatically if someone is proficient in medicine). The injury itself will remain, and risks becoming worse, until it is treated during downtime back in civilization. -Failed death saves do not clear unless treated (same as injuries). -If the players wish, I can implement crafting. Payment Payment will be handled via Paypal, Venmo, or Zelle. Sessions are 10$ each, to be paid before the session begins. As you know, Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce private transactions. Other Notes Be kind and respectful. Try to avoid being late, we will start without you if you delay too long. If you must be late or absent, tell me beforehand. Miss three sessions without elaboration, I will consider you out of the game. Sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, etc. will result in immediate action, as will any form of harassment of the players or DM. If someone or something is making you uncomfortable, say something so I can help resolve the issue. Basically, don't be a jerk. Application Send me a private message with the following: 1.
