If what you bought is a book/compendium expansion, you will have access to it, but your DM will not. If what you bought are art assets, you can add them to your own character and potentially move them to your DM's game using the Character Vault. If what you bought are Modules or Addons, you can use those in your own games.

One minor clarification. The owner of the game is the one who has the asset control. This is not necessarily the same person as the GM.
