New Player. I can control my token but cannot see it

As the titles states, Me and my GM friend are trying to figure this layer thing out.  The token is on the token layer, and I can control the token, but I cannot SEE the token.  Any thoughts?

Hi Jared! What do you see? Do you see the map? other tokens? How are you verifying that you can control the token if you cannot see it? I.e. can you see that you have a token selected, but nothing is inside the frame? Is the GM using dynamic lighting? Are you and the GM on the same page? There's a lot of possibilities here, but this needs more explanation.

Hey Keith! Okay, so I know I can control my token because I click on where the token "is" and I get popups that allow me to interact with the token.  If I click and drag my token, The box moves, and then I can see my token, like I'm uncovering him.
