Pause the Game like in Foundry VTT

February 15 (2 years ago)

Hello, I just think it would be great for GMs to have the ability to pause the game, so that players don't move around their tokens during a description or other moments where moving might trigger traps or show things they shouldn't see just yet in Dynamic Lighting.

I have seen it in use in a game played on Foundry and I found it to be a nice little feature that makes the GMs job so much easier.

As a hold over and as a pro user you can use token lock API.

Also, token locking is currently being evaluated on the Dev server, so should go live in the near term.

If it was me, I’d use an Elevator Music page and move the Player Ribbon.

Same here, I have a holding page where I put the player flag between game sessions. In the holding page I store player tokens, pack animals, wagons and summoned creatures and sometimes a brief summary of the plot so far just so everyone remembers where they are. A holding page is useful for all kinds of reasons but it's also useful for keeping the mysteries hidden by dynamic lighting until play actually begins.

Building a holding page and moving the player ribbon is available to all users of the tool, paying or free.

Thank you all for your input, it's been very helpful!
Just to be clear, however, I don't really need to pause the game in between sessions, I made a Landing Page for my players, but I would like to be able to pause the game while playing if I'm making a description or someone steps on a trap ecc.

I'll try to look into the API, although I don't really like depending on them as the Sandbox isn't the most realyable and sometimes breaks without any reason.

Lastly, thank you, I don't use the Dev server, but I'll wait for the update to come out :D

Now Token Lock have been rolled out on the VTT, but it's currently limited to locking tokens one at a time, unless you use TokenMod API to lock all selected tokens. Should be fairly simple to create an API that locks all player-controlled tokens in place.

Still, would be great to have a real "Pause Everything" button, even when a more streamlined API-based method will eventually appear.
