Midsummer has arrived! With it, too, comes the Festival of Service! Once every other year in the capital city of Aldis, this grand festival is held in honor of the Noble Assembly and those other nobles that travel and govern the realm. There is food, celebration, and most importantly, the noble ceremony of confirmation: the test of the Blue Rose Scepter. You are in the service not to a Noble themself - not yet, anyhow - but to one who may be. Lady Marielle Laurent is the child to two who were once of the Noble Assembly before they retired to their quiet estate. She has studied since childhood to be the people that her parents were, and to govern with the same kindness, steadfastness, and wisdom that they once did. History, religion, arcana, arithmetic, ethics, and anything else that came in the form of a book, scroll, or tablet. She had plenty of time, too, as her sickly disposition left her often bed-ridden and unable to enjoy the freedom of youth that her peers savored. In her adulthood, she has only intensified that preparation. In essence, she is as ideal and idealistic a noble that the people of Aldis could hope for. Though she'll never be a warrior, she may accomplish more with her words than any blade might. **If** the Blue Rose Scepter accepts her. Despite her preparation, study, and upbringing, there is ever the anxiety that the magic symbol of the Sovereign may not accept her. And, perhaps, there may be some truth to that. --- Golden Heart will be a tale of romantic fantasy, intrigure, and character drama set in the urban environment of the capital of the Blue Rose itself, Aldis. Your characters will be servants, retinue, guards, or retainer to the Lady Laurent and her family in whatever way you can find fit to conceive, and I am willing to work with you on how you connect to this fledgeling dynasty. While not every type of character may be acceptable, there are allowances for concepts that are particularly interesting. I am hoping to acquire 4-5 proactive players, ready to engage with a bevy of NPCs and potential plotlines and pursue their own interests in the world of political drama that is the royal court of Aldis. Or a pursuit of knowledge in the Royal College. The underworld and The Silence who runs it. Whatever may be fanced, while the story of the Laurents carries on with you at their sides. Experience is not mandatory, I only ask for enthusiasm. To apply is simple! I don't have any specific format for it, I only ask that you provide a few specific things: any experience you may have with the AGE system (Dragon AGE, Fantasy AGE, Modern AGE, Blue Rose2e, etc.), general tabletop experience, your experience (if any) with the literary genre of romantic fantasy, and a little bit about yourself. While I have not marked this game to have Mature Content, there will be several conventions related to the genre that require me to ask that all applying players be older than 18. This will include things such as flirting, romantic relationships, interpersonal drama that has the potential for intensity that may make some uncomfortable. A general openness to all of this is to be expected. There will definitely be kissing. Other topics that will require some sensitivity due to the commonality of psychics and psychic magic in the world of Blue Rose including things like mind control, mind reading, emotion reading, and other such invasions of inner character thoughts and agency. While I will not take these out of play, due to the significance of sorcery and misuse of arcana in the repertoire of evil in the world, I am willing to accommodate individual players for specific squicks and discomforts.
