Help with Textarea Borders

1657983370

I've been working on this custom character sheet for my friend's system and I want a border only on the left side but only the bottom & right borders will show up. Nothing shows up when I try to set a left or top border. How can I fix this?

Can you share your CSS code? Without that, the only thing I can recommend is using the browser inspector to see what styles are being applied to your textarea. Note: If you want to share your entire CSS file, I recommend sharing it via a github gist , pastebin , or similar file sharing services.
Here the CSS I have for the textareas textarea { resize : vertical ;     background-color : #25252550 ;     border-bottom : 2px solid #c7c7c7 ;     border-right : 2px solid #c7c7c7 ;     border-left : 2px solid #c7c7c7 ;     border-radius : 0px ;     color : #ffffff ;     font-family : Verdana , Geneva, Tahoma , sans-serif ;     box-sizing : border-box ; }

Ok, I would assume you've got a style overriding what you're setting there. Either in your css, or in the Roll20 default styles. It is likely using a higher specificity than your css there. Use the inspector on the sheet (specifically the computed  tab), and see what style declaration is being applied to your left border width, color, and/or style. If the style declaration that is overwriting your style is coming from your code, then you can adjust what classes you are using, or adjust the specificity of the overwriting style. If it is coming from Roll20's defaults, you'll need to increase the specificity of your CSS declaration. I like to prepend all my character sheet css with  .ui-dialog .tab-content .charsheet ; it's overkill for many things, but makes writing the CSS less confusing cause then I use the same base specificity for everything in the sheet.
You were correct, sir. I forget I can use the inspector, haha. Adding .charsheet fixed the issue. I'll probably start adding those to my css as well. That makes sense. Thank you!
