New User - Multiple Questions

I purchased the Plus subscription this morning, primarily for Dynamic Lighting.  Great feature!  But I've got some questions that I cannot find the answer to. I created a game, and I added PCs to it.  I then sent the invite link to my players.  But I dont see an option to change which player is assigned to which token.  When I select the token, or when I right-click it, the only option i get is to show to all players.  How do I assign an existing token to a different or new player?  Or even to myself, considering I dont appear to own the NPCs? I downloaded the companion app, and when I sign in I see the game I created.  But when I click on the game, it says I have no characters.  Is the companion app only for character storage? Um not sure i have dynamic lighting set properly, but I am not sure how to test it from the perspective of a player.  As the GM, I can see the whole map.  How do I test things from a player perspective to insure lighting is correct? I apologize in advance if these are basic things, but as I said I can't seem to find the answers.

1. If you connected the token to a character then the character controls who controls the token. Adjust the character's player controls.  Open the character, click "edit", assign players to both "In Player Journal" and "Can be Edited & Controlled By".  IF the player has not yet entered the campaign (actually entered, not just joined) then you will not be able to assign the token or character to that player.  2. Did you assign yourself control of the characters? If not then you won't have any on the App.  3. Two methods:  3a. Assign yourself control over a token (see #1), then go to the settings tab in the top right corner of the game and click on "Re-join as player" Now you are a player.  3b. Create a dummy account. For best results I prefer to use a separate browser (if using Chrome then use Firefox) . Log into the game with the dummy account. Set permissions for the dummy to control tokens etc. Using the dummy account test out the DL while you edit it from  your main account.
For #1, that worked!  I kept forgetting to click the Edit button, which is on me.  Thanks! For #2, I'll have to check the app now that I've added myself as owner to a couple of the characters. For #3, I still have problems.  I have 5 PCs and 1 NPC in the Journal, and all 5 PCs are on the map along with 5 copies of the NPC.  I have made myself the owner/controller of the NPC and one of the PCs (that PC's player has not yet joined), and I have Dynamic Lighting turned on (Explorer Mode on, Daylight Mode off).  I have each of the PCs and the NPC set to throw bright light for 15 feet, with 120 degree vision.  However, when I launch the game as a player, I get nothing but a black screen.  None of the tokens shows up, no part of the map is visible.  Is there some setting somewhere that I need to adjust to have even the tokens show up?  Do I need to set the map back to the background/map layer?  Why do none of the lighted tokens even show up?

As Gauss explained, the players have to actually enter the game before their names appear in the drop-down list. They don't actually have to be present for the process, but they need to have at least logged in one time. The character sheets are assigned to the players, then the tokens are assigned to the character sheets. There are some excellent videos on setting up a game in Roll20, including Dynamic Lighting. Go to YouTube and search for "Roll20 dm tutorial".  There have been some features added since some of these videos series were made, but they will get you up and running.  I have each of the PCs and the NPC set to throw bright light for 15 feet, with 120 degree vision Do you also have "Vision" and, if appropriate, "Darkvision" set to "On" as well?

As I stated in my last post: For #3, I still have problems. EDIT:  A check of the companion app shows that I still have no characters.  Why is this?  What did I miss here when editing the token?

And I figured it out.  When editing i have to select the player for both In Journal AND controlled by.  My bad! Figured it out.  Line of sight.  Which I dislike.  But the map works!

To confirm, are there any remaining issues to be resolved?
Not with the map.  I might have more regarding token placement, but I'm good for now!
