GRRRR.... STUPID ALIGN TO GRID!!

Please tell me there's an easier way to align a gridded, public domain map with the R20 grid, other than click-drag-pray.   Getting super frustrated and I hate  having two overlapping grids on one map. TIA

Hi Matt! Here's a quick method: 1. Right click on map, set to "Is Drawing". This will stop snapping. 2. align grid using side handles (not corners) to align horizontally. 3. do the same with top and bottom handles to align vertically. 4. If it's close, but not pixel perfect, set Roll20 grid opacity to zero. No one will notice a few pixels. Not all map makers set the edge of their map to fall on a grid line. This can make setup difficult.
It's possible that the outermost part of the map is not a full grid square in width/height, so you'll have to manually adjust the image and have the outside edge not line up to the Roll20 grid, but get the printed grid image to line up with the Roll20 grid. This also means that you'll have some blank space outside of the map image, so you'll probably want to adjust the background color. Here is my standard process for adjusting maps to line up with the Roll20 grid: Make sure the map image is on the map layer Make sure the map image is set as a ‘drawing’ (right click on the image) Make sure the Roll20 grid is nice and visible - adjust the color to red and turn the transparency up to like 100% Use the ‘align to grid’ feature to get the size close (optional) Move the top left grid on the map image to align with the Roll20 grid Stretch the map image horizontally to the right to align the grid. You may have to repeat 5&6 a couple times Stretch the map image vertically down to align to the Roll20 grid Turn the grid color back to whatever you want (light grey and more transparent, or just off if the map image has grid lines already) Right-click on the map and lock it in place so you don't accidentally move it later (optional)

TIA If you notice, a lot of the gridded assets on Roll20 are cropped in such a way that part of the grid is cut off. So when the image snaps to grid, the lines are offset. You have to hold alt and manually move the image to match up the grids.
The most likely culprit is the graphic itself. Most of the graphics on the interzones are designed for printing, the grid lines are 2-4 pixels wide, not 1 pixel like digital assets. The best you are likely to do is an approximation that will diverge more as you move toward the edges.
