I've been reading a lot about D&D and immediately fell in love with it, i have been reading the rule books and tried to run a basic campaign with my family but I couldn't get them to enjoy it, I still have a lot to learn but I'm willing to learn quick.

Hello. Would you mind giving a couple of details about the sort of game you'd like to run? I'd like to know when you'd like to run it, what the basic premise of the campaign would be, and what you'd expect out of players who joined your campaign.
