8-10-14: Grugin Battlehammer, After being sucked into the spinning sphere, I found me self in a strange place. Once i got me bearings, i ventured to the north and had a harrowing encounter with an animated pool of blood ( It reached up and hit hit me! ). After several attempts to mash it wit me hammer and realizing it was healing itself ( by drinking my blood ). I did the only thing i could do. Set it on fire. After destroying the blood pool and losing me throwing hammer, a small group of bats decided to try and make a nest in me beard. Shortly after the bats started to attack, the gods favored me and an interesting halfling arrived and assisted with dispatching them ( Bob ). We shared a drink, and cautiously moved on inside the dungeon. We found a trip wire that opened a wall and unleashed the most ferocious Rousirl. (Rat Of Unusual Size In Real Life). I blinded it with me light spell, it bit me on the ankle " that really hurt " and we sought escape by closing the door and trapping it on the other side. Afterwards we found a chest with a beam of light, Should have known it was a trap , but the greed took me.. Teleported, ended up naked, and found some new friends. One can never have too many friends in such a perilous and strange world. Will try to keep notes of my journey, In case i don't survive , may'by the next adventurer can use them. And stay alive. Thanks for posting the 1st story, Ron! Grugin finds: 1 vial "Holy Water" (1d8 damage when thrown on Undead creatures) +100 XP (for Grugin's story post on the forum Aug 12, 2014) Add those 2 things to your character Bio tab in the game when you get a chance, Ron. The thread is open for others to post your character's experiences-viewpoint or illustrations if you like to make art! Ron gave a good story model to jumpstart the thread. Other writing styles or different kinds of postings could work well here too. Whatever you like to do, to add a little "record" of your character's dungeoneering. After each game session the window is open to post your entries, until the next game session. Then that window closes and a new XP Bonus window begins.

8/11/14 Found me clothes! Hidden in a secret room. The party managed to fend off of some beetles before i could get me armor on! I wonder where the people who left their clothes in this room are? I like to think they found a way out! We decided to head east , at least we think its east. Its hard to tell when you don't know where you are. The room we went into had a strange looking human that looked like a rat, And a strange looking rat that looked like a human! Strange indeed. After the Halfling slammed his mace into ones head and ....Nothing! What devils work was brewing in this place i wondered. I managed to still one with the blessing of Balen ( My God) The party managed to finish them off with magical weapons of war and spells. Funny how one attempts to leave battle behind and join the priesthood. And yet the battle has found me! I don't know how long i can stay the rage, that is bred in my clan. I will ask Balen for insight. In the next room the Crafty Thief uncovered a sarcophagus, that was hidden in the floor. It had a prayer cloth on it , but i could tell it was a fake. We opened the lid and found some coin , and a strange white dye. I may hold onto it , as i may need it to get the bloodstains out of me Beard! The next room was curious indeed! Here we found a large snake , with the head of ... Balen knows what! The Half-orc managed to cut its head clean off with a fiery weapon. A curious weapon indeed. In the floor strewn about we found some more shiny coin. Funny how one would be excited to see coins. But if there's coin , then there must be Civilization! Should you find this book, read it well and take heed of my notes! For it may save your life. Even if it did not save my own. Page 2

+100 XP (for Grugin's story of Aug 11, 2014 "Page 2")
Awakening in what seemed to be an underground room I found two strangers Malachite and Varamire. Together we banded together and headed up the steps heading south into the dungeon. In the room we discovered a hidden chamber which had remained undisturbed for God knows how long. We found some gold, 2 healing potions, magic dagger and Wakazashi, Varamire took the dagger and I the Wakazashi. From here we entered the next listened at the door hearing enemies beyond we charged them hoping to surprise them and failing! However we easily dispatched the were-cockroaches only finding a miserable out of loot in the room. Taking the south door again we entered a small room which we immediately suspected to be trapped and after Malachite found a switch we managed to deactivate the trap within! Here we found some decent loot which was encouraging after our previous luck! My demon stirred when our minds were probed by creatures beyond the exiting door. We managed to open a dialogue and after some clever deception by Malachite we have been allowed to enter discovering we have entered a den of dragons thankfully on peaceful terms! Perhaps we can help them with their insectoid issues which we learned off whilst travelling through their tunnels. Last entry written on 16/08/14

Varamire and friends adventure in the dungeon of insectoids 08/15/2014 When entering the strange dungeon after hearing the bard tale Varamire the elf mage and his new found companions malachite the dwarf fighter and Lasciel the elf fighter started heading south and encountered a room that had been cleared by a previous party and it looked like they dispatched some nasty spiders. It didn’t look like there were any valuables left in the room but Varamire and Lasciel decided to check for secret rooms just in case the previous party missed anything. To our luck there was a hidden door in that room and we found a +1 dagger and a +1 wakizashi, as well as 2 magic scrolls 2 health potions and a good amount of gold. Needless to say we were pretty happy about such an early find so we decided to venture south east to see what other wonders we can find. We stopped at a door and decided to listen to see if anything was on the other side. My keen elf ears detected insect chittering but it didn’t sound like normal bugs and more intelligent as if they were speaking amongst themselves. We decided to charge through the door weapons ready to face whatever was on the other side. Turns out it was 3 were-cockroaches armed with clubs and poisoned fangs. I let out a might magic missile shaped like a cats head that did a decent amount of damage. My companions bashed the other two but only Malachite was able to connect unfortunately. I was ineffectually throwing my +1 dagger hoping to damage the enemy that decided to focus its attention on me. my mistake gave it the chance to inflict a bite that did some damage but I had the fortitude to resist the poison. I kept throwing my dagger but kept missing and Lasciel kicked my dagger back to me giving me another chance while cutting one of the cockroaches in half. I was once again bitten but was able to again resist the poison effect. Unfortunately Lasciel was not having any luck as well, she was trying to hit the cockroach but it was skittery and kept dodging. We finally where able to defeat the were-cockroaches thanks to my companions getting some nice backstabs in while the last enemy was focused on me but I succumbed to its last bite and was paralyzed for a few minutes. In that time Lasciel forced a health potion down my throat and put my dagger back in me bag. There was nothing of worth in the room, only crap on the floor and rotten food in a cupboard. So we decided to keep pressing south and see what else we could find We found a much nicer room with a candle holder with one purple candle and a wooden chest on the south side. It looked to simple so malachite looked at the stone in the room and spotted a stone switch on the ceiling. Malachite tried to hit it with a rock but missed to he gave it to me so I could take a crack at it. I hit the switch and it looked like we disabled a petrifying trap that was set on the wood chest. We opened the chest and found a decent amount of gold in a satchel and I took the purple candle from the candelabra. As we were leaving my foot snagged on something and it appeared to be an invisible back with some more gold in it we split the gold and I kept the invisible sack. Seems like the roaches didn't leave any rewards but we were finding plenty of goodies here so far and where eager to press on. We decided to keep pressing south west and listened at the door and it was strange animal sounds so we decided to just knock since it looked like a nice room and door so we were hoping for a friendly greeting. We found just that in the company of little dragons that where making the animal sounds we heard. They talked to us telepathically and seemed extremely interested in our dwarf friend Malachite so they let him into their cavern while telling me and Lasciel to stay outside since they had no interest in elves. Malachite was able to get us in by telling the dragonlings that we were his servants. They were eager to introduce us to some dwarves that where in farther into the cavern. But as we were crossing a mound a giant burrowing insectoid came from a nearby tunnel and attacked us. With my companions and 2 dragonlings by our side we fought the beast. Its shell was incredibly tough and we were having a tough time doing damage so I remember that the webs I can create are flammable so I covered the insectoids tunnel in them and it got stuck. I told my party that whoever has anything flammable to throw do it now so we can burn this bug. Laciel made a Molotov out of oil and rags from his extra clothes and we burned the insectoid enough that it retreated back into it burrow letting us move on and rest to meet with the dwarves another day.

+100 XP (Jack W for Lasicel's story posting of Aug 15, 2014) +100 XP (Sergey S for story "Varamire and friends adventure in the dungeon of insectoids" post of Aug 15, 2014).
Varamire and friends adventure: now in the burrow of insectoids 08/18/2014 We woke up in the dragon cavern and approached a big dwarven door that malachite found a knocker to alert the inhabitants of our arrival he used a knocker and spoke to a dwarf on the other end and offered wine and our services for permission to enter. We proceeded to enter the Dwarven kindom of gomgal, malachite made nice with them and got acquainted with them over his wine that he brought from his city. Varamire and Laciel went to check out what was the tapping sound south of the enclave that the dwarves where complaining about and we encountered 3 dwarven tapper zombies. During the battle we quickly found out that only magic and silver weapons could harm these creatures and since we were outnumbered 3 to 2 Laciel called to Malachite for aid. Malachite arrived and found that to him they looked like ghosts but to elves they just looked like zombified dwarves. We defeated the tappers and the dwarf clan cheers saying that with the tapping gone they might be able relight their forges. we decided to rest up in the city and go after the burrowing insects that we encountered earlier, but before that we were told by the dwarves to check if there were any statues “delivered” in the room with the stone switch we were before. While going to check on the statue’s I set off a bear trap that the Pseudo dragons use to attack intruders. We found 2 Halfling that set of the petrification trap and to get into the dwarves good graces we delivered them to their city. Malachite borrowed a pickaxe to help us enter the insect burrow and we entered the tunnel which housed the massive bug that we set on fire before. Going down west tunnel we encountered two more of the same type of insect from the day before but thankfully only one of them was a full adult while the other was still an adolescent. We defeated the 2 bugs without too much trouble and found a bit of gold for our troubles. Going down the east tunnel we heard some angry animal sounds. I decided that we should use a sleep spell and attack while they are incapacitated. Unfortunately only one of the giant wolverines where affected but we dispatched the awake one quickly enough but not before Malachite got a big chunk of his leg chewed out after enraging the wolverine. I managed to finish it off with a well thrown dagger between its eyes and we all ganged up on the sleep wolverine killing it before it could react. We found an expensive silver bracelet but unfortunately the stink from that cave stuck on our clothes making us smell for nearly a day. We rested up after the fight with the wolverines and got some health potions in exchange for Malachite regaling the dragonlings with our adventure in the insect tunnels. While going back the tunnel we found giant ants feasting on the wolverine corpses. After dispatching several of the giant creatures we finally found the queen which was defeated without too much trouble except for one of our fighters getting a good bite from the queen. Due to the ants digging nature we pocketed a large amount of gold nuggets that they were collecting and some gold coins. We ended the day with one of our members being badly wounded but we still had 2 health potions left and eager to see what else the tunnel could yield.
After giving up on trying to meditate I tried to keep my mind distracted whilst waiting on the others to wake up. Finally after what seemed like an age my companions awoke and we headed further along the tunnel to the Dwarvern strong door. Malachite managed to get us accepted by the dwarves by offering wine and our services. Although the dwarves of the enclave accepted Malachite as one of their own Varamire and myself were still treated with distrust and I have a feeling that the Dwarves here would have nothing to do with us if they could. Whilst Malachite was wrapped up with his new found friends I asked Varamire to accompany me to find out who was making the tapping noises. As we approached we saw that these dwarves were in fact dead their flesh rotting and falling off of them, their clothes rags and faded. After attempting to reason with the spirits we were forced to defend ourselves, I called out to Malachite to get over here and as he arrived he uttered a prayer unsure what he could do to help. I reminded him that silver would kill them and to hurry to join the fight. Having defeated the tappers the dwarves cheers and invited us to join with their festivities and sleep within the stronghold. I could feel Anduriel's presence as I rested, entering a trance I went to my inner world here I checked the bindings that held Anduriel in place I directed more of my power into the binding spell. Anduriel watched silently face void of emotion as I worked. Having been trapped for so long Anduriel usually reminds dormant however it seems his is awake. The following day we headed down into the insectoid tunnels were we ended up killing more of the same type of creature we burnt on the first day before heading further into the tunnels where we killed two wolverines. The fight with the wolverines left Malachite in bad shape and we returned to the previous days camp outside of the strong door. As we were setting up camp the dragons flew over and we bartered for healing water from the dragons in return for tails of our adventures down below. Resting again Anduriel spoke to me. Its been a while since we've talked, in a way it would be weird to be free of him after having been together for millennia even if it were possible. When the rest of the party woke we headed back into the tunnels. Once in the tunnels we found more enemies, giant ants this time which we dispatched without too much trouble despite us all performing badly. I've used the last of my oil so no more molotovs unless I can acquire some more which I doubt. Anduriel has awoken no doubt he will try escape his binds at some point, I need to be careful.

These are 3 throwing stars touched by ancient spirit magics, which specially affect demons and devils. You don't see any way to use it on the demon spirit that possessed Lasicel, but they can be thrown against any infernals who might appear to face you later in the dungeons, depending on which path you take. Varamire and Lasciel kill some undead things and lose money while jousting 08/22/2014 We decided to go back north where we fought the were-cockroaches and encountered 2 ghoul cockroaches that took their place. We easily took them out by tactically positioning ourselves at a doorway and made them attack one at a time, I cast a protection from evil on Lasciel and they couldn’t harm her at all and they where easily taken care of. We then went north and encountered 3 undead ghoul hounds in what looked like a living quarter, Lasciel handily took out the hounds. We searched the room and found some gold by the walnut bed and a bronze goblet on a lava rock alter, we barred the door and took a rest on the walnut bed. The next morning we heard what sounded like a 24 hour gym with horses to the north of us. I cast ESP through the door and heard the thoughts of the creatures on the other end. After 10 minutes of concentrating I hear what sounds like a lot of different alignments and of races and they sounded friendly enough so we went inside. It was a jousting arena, almost the size of a football field we saw knights of every order and members of several races. I sponsored Lasciel by buying her equipment and she joined the Practice jousting competition. Lasciel handily took out the first knight but got a draw while jousting the second knight. We went through a marketplace to get Lasciel healed while following the second knight as he showed us the way. We went back to the insect burrows and along the way we delivered a hobgoblin statue to the dwarf enclave. We went into the burrows and found some giant snails that had sledgehammer instead of antenna. They couldn’t keep up with Lasciels speed while I pelted them with spells and daggers from the back. We found a magic hammer for malachite and overheard chanting in the next chamber about badgers and mushrooms.
(Img WIP, currently just doing a bit of dialog as practice to see how well the character 'feels', looking for critique as I build up the image and the character's personality. Consider this a 'Primer', not attached to the adventure but a sampling of what I am thinking of bringing.) Kids... That's what they are bringing to the grinder, to be chewed up and tossed out with only stumps for legs and arms, blind or crippled when disease from unclean blade cuts. Well, cuts would be generous, with the way everyone parries and blocks the swords edge resembles more of a saw for bush clearing than a implement of war. Yeah, they tell stories about the glorious knights and nobles going to the field of honour. I'll tell you what honour is. Honour is the story said by the survivor. When five pounds of iron on chain comes crashing through your breast plate shattering five ribs, limiting your ability to breathe in and you get to suffocate inside your safe iron shell, the guy who did ya in is gonna say how honourable he was dueling you, while forgetting to mention how you were pinned under the dead body of your friend, lookin' into his cold dead eyes before yours matched, wishing to scream, hoping to bring in that last bit of air to cry, it wont matter to anyone how you went out but you and what ever gods you found in the mud and blood and dead. Then you look to the old man, and you make your jokes. How I have to use my spear as a walking stick, how I am going to be the weak spot in the formation and then start spreading the worst kind of disease, Doubt. That's the stuff that really kills you. Hesitation. This old man is faster than the lot of farm boys they bring in, throwing spears into their hands and jerkins on their chests and calling them 'men' because they got themselves a pointy stick and a lord shouting at them to 'hold'. When the doubt creeps in, that's what makes or breaks you. Those boys might be able to lift whole wagons over their head, many were built stronger, many were built meaner, but in the end how many managed to live to their next campaign? How many of them stepped up time after time to defend their homes when their family's all in the dirt just so one more boy doesn't have to be called a 'Man' because he's got a sharp stick in his hand and cow hide on his chest. The smart ones, the ones that survive, they're the ones listening and asking the questions around my fire. The ones who see old and think 'Feeble' are the ones that end up dead. The kid that makes it, and I do mean kid, not enough make it out to be counted in more than singular fashion, they sat around my fire. Learned to use that pokey stick for more than a roasting spit when they sat down with me. Doesn't make it go any easier knowing that, most will never make it out. And the only one remembering their faces is the old man, the one that is well past his prime. It use to be Grizwald the Herald of Ko'thur.... Now it's just Old Man Grizwald. And I keep getting older.
I like the grizzled war veteran backstory

After seeing Derek's I thought I'd post the sketch that I did for Lasciel. Lasciel has pale skin, bright violet eyes and wavy white hair pulled up and held in place by a comb. Her face is covered by a expressionless silver mask and she wears dark elven scale mail under a black hooded robe.

Our friend Malachite had recovered from the wine poisoning that he'd gotten from drinking too much with his dwarven friends we filled him in with the details of our adventures and set out for the trap room where we knew we would find another stone statue that we could deliver to the dwarves and although it is not a rewarding job it does give myself and Varamire respite from the dwarves dislike of us, without our dwarven friend we would not be welcome here. Whilst collecting the statue we came across four newcomers, three men and a dwarf. The new group was potentially a threat and I'd moved my fingers deftly to my hilts ready for a fight whilst our spokesmen talked. Anduriel broke out into maniacal laughter at the sight of the cleric trying to detect evil. Upon finding out one of the new party is a warlock Lasciel proceeds to watch him closely, demons tend to warp the minds of those who are lured in by them. After the groups had cautiously merged we headed down into the tunnels that Varamire and myself had started clearing and managed to destroy a cult of humans who worshipped a giant badger and a mushroom. The group all took turns hacking and slashing at the beast, the beast slowed by the others assults made it easy for me to deftly dance around its attacks, slicing its tendons and attacking its joints as I weaved my way around the beast dodging its attacks immobilised and bleeding from the numerous surgical cuts it collapsed onto its front and I ran my Wakazashi through the base of its skull from behind. After slaying the beast the group retreated back to the dwarven tunnels for safety to heal up after their adventure.
You see a very pale-skinned man, who looks about 25, with brown hair that falls off his head in locks. Instantly, you spot the eyes, eyes more aged than you normally see in an elderly man, but yet the iris is bluer than sapphire. He is very muscular, not suited perfectly to combat, but could hit quite hard. You decide to ask people about him, and hear a rumour. People say he once read the mind of an an oracle, and saw his father dying at the hands of a strange woman. He saw that woman the next day, and killed her before she could kill his father. He got home, and found someone else had got to his father. He wants to be powerful enough to save them. You ask what he does now, and get two similar responses. Some say that he saves innocent people, trying to get a good reputation so that people with power will tell him what he can do to save his father. Others say he trains for power by defending those who have not got the power to fight. You lose him. The next day, you try to trace this man, and track his steps. You come to a small corridor filled with manure, that has been swept to the side It appears that he slew a creature halfway between a worm and a tentacle, before finding a very large sword, that must have had gold on it, for some has frayed off, and he also found an elven crossbow. You continue down the corridor and come to a large area where people joust constantly. You ask people about a person of his description, and an elf tells you about some idiot asking about selling a non-magical weapon, and attempting to dig a hole through a very thick wall of dirt with just his hands. You walk over there, and see the damage done to that wall. Whilst a large amount of dirt has collapsed outward, he was clearly not successful. The dirt seems thick, even at the top, and many roots pass through unbroken. You then turn around and see the man himself leaning against a wall, watching you, wearing a long flowing purple and orange robe, the patterns appearing to waft in the wind despite the fabric not moving. You walk up to him. He tells you his plan. You decide that this man really is a buffoon and leave. I'm not going to keep this story in the weird second/third person after this. Just how some people start their character descriptions being in second/third person inspired me to type the whole segment in it.

I like the stories from the Players! Enjoyable descriptions. Welcome to the newest contributor, Fruitface. Others be sure to post your memories / story of the last session we played, before the next session opens, to get in the window and pick up an Experience Points bonus for your character. +100 XP (Jack for Lasciel's story post Sept 6, 2014) +100 XP (Fruitface for a new PC's first story post Sept 14, 2014) Those 2 players, please add this line to your character Bio tab, when you see this.
Erig Applebum is an odd halfling. He wades into battle protected by plate armor, bearing a shield and wickedly sharp short sword. His armor is the functional steel armor of a monster fighter, not the shiny, plumed nonsense of the mounted jouster. He prefers to travel on his large, hairy, bare halfling feet instead of wearing boots. Like many halflings, Erig grew up on a farm in a pleasant village. While other halflings in his village were content to enjoy the agrarian life style, he wanted to see the world. Erig joined a Dwarven mercenary company, hired by the nearest Dwarf kingdom to clear a tunnel system of goblins. Erig worked as a cook at first, but over time, he took up arms and learned to fight. He became renowned for his toughness and stubborn defiance of the goblin hordes. After his contract was over, Erig left the mercenary company in favor of a career adventuring. He wants to see the world, but oddly enough, Erig always finds himself back underground, fighting monsters in grimy tunnels and defiled tombs.

+100 XP (Phil H for introducing Eric Applebum the odd halfling backstory Sept 14, 2014) "He wants to see the world, but oddly enough, Erig always finds himself back underground, fighting monsters in grimy tunnels and defiled tombs." Hahaha. That well-describes one of the central tropes of this campaign in a nutshell. Phil you can enter the game at any time, to add the Experience line on your Character bio tab.
Question: How good must a story be to earn 100 XP, and is there a level of great story capable of more than 100 XP? I know that you said 100 XP is just a guideline, but you have given everyone so far that amount, so this question felt like it needed to be asked.

That's a fair question, Fruitface. Thanks for inquiring. I will say as GM that I reserve the position to change and adapt as the game goes along, over time. A story does not need to be good, well, a story does not need to be long. It must be at least enjoyable for me. If it has bad punctuation and shows little care then I suppose I wouldn't reward that, or I would ask for edits. If it is a decent 3-5 sentences of retelling your day's adventure, it would be enough. Enthusiasm, and timeliness would also attract favor regardless of wordcount. A great story (or a drawing / illustration!) along with consistency and seniority (having played a few sessions and posted multiple timely pleasing journals) can earn more, above 100 XP, sometimes including rewards of actual items for the character. When coming across Throrolf Magebane for the first time you are welcomed by a man standing 6 feet in height and clad in chain. He has his round shield strapped to his back and on his rough leather belt a longsword sheathed in a wooden scabbard. Tucked through the belt is a hand axe. It's seen use and Thorolf has been known to throw it or use it as a tool. As a raider and mercenary, Thorolf has seen many lands and many people. He's not the brightest one when it comes to books but he's seen enough to be a handy survivalist. He grew up on a coastal village in the Northlands and listened intently to the Elders' stories of adventures and of the gods. From this he took an intense hatred for black magic users and other spellweavers as he sees them as an affront to the power of the gods. On the battlefield he's been known to attack mages to the exclusion of the dangers around him earning him the moniker of Magebane. He respects those who can handle themselves in a fight and those who have proven resourceful in camp and on adventures. A loyal friend and dangerous enemy, he's hard to get along with as he can't seem to keep his comments to himself. He's entered the dungeon and hopes to leave richer than when he entered and with more tales to tell other travelers.

Good material Stub. It's the first PC in this campaign who has that "Magebane" tendency fighting against dark spellcasters. Having the goals to gain Treasure and Tales is absolutely perfect for this campaign. Nice light roleplay background story. +100 XP (Stub for Thorolf Magebane background story post Sept 15, 2014) ---- Add this line under Experience Points on your bio tab in-game.
Rufus Tumbledown, in short: Rufus, halfling cleric, was always a bit clumsy, but intense training for Rayar, the god of fire, has made him nimble, wise, and determined. His fire shall Shine Brightly in this dark dungeon.

New Character on the Block...... Snivling Tenderfoot Heres his Background..... Being from a family that was Short on food, Short on money and just plain Short, Snivling knew at a young age 2 in fact that he was to sore to great heights and overcome the pressures of life keeping him down. But little did he know that one day (Like last week) did his dreams finally come true as thief’s broke into his family’s house and in the process he was tossed out the window and sore he did right out into the mud. Quickly though he brushed himself off (very quickly since he was only 3’ tall) and head off to the other side of town to live with his uncle’s family. Even though the years went by his dreams did not falter and sure enough they came true. As his uncles house was broken into (by the same thief’s) (maybe) (we just don’t know since all humans look alike) (but we do think so) Anyhoo and this time he did sore too great heights (since his uncle lived in a second story brown tutor with white crown molding and had just a touch of renaissance with a flair for the green side of life. And with a little porch out the back landing with green shutters all about the house). As the wind blew back his hair and the night stars filled his vision and then Sploosh back in the mud, yes tossed out the window again. Picking himself up (since falling in the mud from the second story has a tendency to pound deeply in to the ground you land on) in which case it took him a little longer to dust himself off (and with a slight limp) he headed to the Northern part of town where His third aunt twice removed (for unspeakable reasons even though it was on his mother’s side but that kind of things are accepted) allowed him to live there. Being wiser and slightly smarter he moved into her basement that had no windows WHAT SO EVER….. OR (we can say) Snivling has light brown curly hair from his head to his toes and is not a thief but an Antiquities Collector of Great Items that others just don’t want.

Hey Shane. I chuckled. Your PC sounds entertaining. Add the next line on your Bio tab, in-game, under Experience. It's a morsel of XP to help you launch Snivling Tenderfoot's career. +100 XP (Shane's backstory description of Snivling Tenderfoot halfling Sep 19, 2014) P.S. note to Player-readers: I've not announced a Friday game for tonight on purpose. There are other social events happening in life here around my town. When i get back home tonight late, I'll log on & run some casual dungeon encounters if anyone is online, but I don't want anyone expecting me today. There is not a strict weekly basis for this campaign. More of a variable time, which I will always announce & people can join if the given-time works for you on that day. I will continue running game sessions on here, usually once or twice a week, always to be announced in the Scheduling thread when it's happening. In the past week, I've been on here 3 different days working with new players on Character Creation. In the coming weeks, I look forward to announcing more game sessions and giving all the New PC's a chance to play, and the existing PC's a chance to resume their exploration story. Welcome everyone! Stick with me! -- GM Gold for "Explore dungeons inside a strange world!" Basic Fantasy campaign on Roll20.
Character Background for Fulwyr Voranson. Fulwyr hails from the frigid icy lands of the North, from the ancient city now known as Vandrhall. His line is of great warriors and powerful mystics, but his line is also terribly cursed. Long ago, the hands of fate were at their most cruel, battering the people of the north with a seemingless ceaseless Winter and the predatory attacks of desperate bandits. The city's people were strong, but strength alone could not keep a belly full and a child warm. The high priests cried to the gods for aid, to break the foul Winter and drive away the bandits, but their was no reply. In desperation, the Keeper of Voices and Spells, Fulwyr's ancestor, stole away into his sanctum for a secret ritual. There he called out for aid, not to the silent gods who abandoned them, but to a demon of the pit. He called to Voratix, an Ice Devil of frightful power. In the darkness he spoke dark words with the creature and forged a pact. In exchange for power to defend his lands, the Keeper offered his heart to Voratix. Known to few, Ice Devils use the hearts of mortals to understand their thoughts and desires, to better subjugate and destroy them. Craving more, Voratix instead demanded the heart of each true born son, taken once the father's heart had frozen completely in the demon's care. Having no choice, the Keeper agreed. Voratix honored his end of the bargain and increased the Keeper's power tenfold. With this new power he ended the Winter and drove the bandits away by himself. Shortly thereafter, in the middle of the feast to his honor, he dropped dead to the floor, a rime covered hole in his chest where his heart used to be. Many centuries have passed since the Keeper's accursed bargain. Each blooded member of the Keeper's line has been a gifted magic user, but the icy doom of Voratix has claimed them all. It has been a year since his father was claimed by the Ice Devil, since then Fulwyr has been traveling, seeking any scrap of knowledge he can find to break the bloody cycle. He didn't know how long his father's heart would hold out, and it sickened him every time he thought about it. The demon would die by his hand, he vowed it again every morning and every night.

6/18/15 [First time using Basic Fantasy, starting at Level 3, with no cash but any reasonable equipment] Gold (GM) Helen P. "Hazza" Elf Thief James Koryan "Grim Roustabout" Halfling Fighter BLAST THAT BARD!!! Just as honest ol' Hazza here finished finding out that there was nothing worthwhile in his pockets, he zapped me and some armored guy through a magical globe into an underground pit. At first I thought this guy called, "Grim" [James K], was standing in a deeper pit, but then I realized that -- even though he looked like a giant ball bearing -- he was just a well-muscled halfling in plate mail. I then had the devil's own time time, being of typical elven height, as I tried to skulk and hide behind him as we moved out. At least he turned out to be a good infighter, which meshed well with my archery. We quickly evaded an arrow trip trap, polished off a skanky old walking skeleton and a fur-dressed grim-dark guard, and got to the main course of the day. We starting by Grim's slicing up some squeaky monster mushrooms, then I skewered some feisty fish-folk right through the gills, and we settled down to an old-fashioned fish fry. Of course we'd brought plenty of oil, but then I suddenly realized that, oh no!, I'd forgotten to bring the tartar sauce and fries!

Brace yourselves, folks. I've got a few things to do involving my character in this post, so it might be a bit of a read.I tend to get pretty involved with this stuff, but I'll try to use a dose of brevity nonetheless... -Character Information- * Name: Jintra "The Sirocco" * Gender, Race and Class: Female, Beastfolk (played as an elf), Fighter * Age: 19 * Height and Build: 5'3", toned muscles * Brief Description: Wild-child with bestial traits, slightly shorter than an average human female, wearing leather armor. * Starting Gear: Backpack, scimitar, shortbow, quiver w/ 20 shortbow arrows, dagger, leather armor, ordinary clothing, hooded lantern, 4 oil flasks, small metal mirror, whetstone, tinderbox w/ flint and steel, waterskin. -Picture and Physique/Outfit Details- ~Picture drawn by yours truly~ Jintra possesses hazel hair and eyes, a dark brown stripe-like tattoo on both cheeks, and olive skin. Her armor has a combination of dark and light colored boiled leather plates. Her outer skirt and leggings are a dark blue, her inner skirt is a lighter blue with a dark blue trim. Her anklets, plate over the tops of her feet, and toe rings are silver, with a sapphire set into the plates, with her claw-like nails painted ultramarine. Lastly, her scimitar has a darker-colored spine on the blade, with a light steel edge, cross guard and pommel, and with darkened leather on the grip. -Backstory- Jintra hails from the Beast Wilds, a warm southern land of strange creatures centered around a sea. Living in a city-state for much of her life, she is the daughter of a warrior, and like her brother before her was raised to follow in her father's footsteps. Coming of age as a youth of thirteen, among the traditions of her people, she was conditioned to handle armor and taught to fight with swords and daggers for her teenaged years onward. By her age of seventeen, her older brother Kahza was already integrated into her city-state's military. While not as swift or skilled as her, he was headstrong and brave in the face of any endeavor, and made a name for himself as an ace in armed conflict against bandits and enemy city-states alike. However, it wasn't too long before Kahza's fighting company met with disaster. Along with strange beasts not commonly seen in northern lands, the Beast Wilds' rolling savannas, badlands and deserts were also home to a variety of brutal, even seemingly sadistic, monster species. In the years since Jintra and Kahza's employment in their respective fighting troops, a roaming warlock had become a veritable threat to the peoples of the Wilds, especially the beastfolk. Who was once a vizier of a desert city-state was now a warlord seeking to decimate the human parliament of the region. The dread warlock, known as Ishmael of the Grave, was said to have gotten his sinister power from a pact with a diabolical efreeti known as Culato, the Shiek of Calamity. It is through this pact that Ishamel was able to gain control over lowly demons and all manners of undead, even gaining the aid of some monstrous humanoid tribes. Kahza's fate was sealed when, on his travels with his company, the soldiers met with a squad of Ishmael's forces. With its leader given command over a legion of ghouls, the people of the fighting company, having little to no experience fighting monsters, was mostly annihilated. Among the body count was Kahza, and in time the bad news was relayed to Jintra and her family. Heartbroken, Jintra dropped out of her squadron's ranks, determined to learn how to battle monsters instead of men. While she considered it a losing battle to try and actively oppose Ishamel himself, she instead sought to grow stronger by aiding those in need, changing from being a simple soldier to a monster hunter. Roughly a year had past, and Jintra, having become a wanderer seeking employment through leads on monstrous troubles, had migrated from the Beast Wilds and found herself in this adventure.
Just after some exp from last sesh ;) The Life and Times of Lucius Stonekopf I know not whether I am being tested by my god but one moment I was at the Midsummer beerfest asking that bard why he did not sing even a drinking song and the next I was tumbling through the air. Even if I had one too many ales, I should not have appeared in this dank cavern. I was not alone however for there were two elves when I came to, a sticky-fingered lass who eyed my purse and a fellow all in blue. Fortunately the lass seemed more interested in helping us all from this strange dungeon than helping herself to our coin pouches. It was rumoured that if we struck westwards through the caverns we could escape its confines, so that is what we did. Our unlikely band first came across an ogre beyond an antechamber. The beast was asleep in a crude bed and rather than rouse him we used magic to secure him and the budding thief set him alight! Hardly glorious but perhaps for the best as I found out later the ale had dulled my senses and my hammer swings failed to topple even the creatures that came to pick at the ogre's corpse, finished off by the webbing cast by the elf in blue and the thief's deadly skills. In the ogre's room we found a ragged backpack, a carved throne in the north-eastern corner, another antechamber leading south and a curious door to the west. There were also some gold nuggets and emeralds we shared amongst us. I investigated the throne and discovered a peculiar shrine with a bowl of strange, dark liquid. By adding a drop of holy water to its essence a spirit was roused and spoke to me of a dwarven kingdom beyond the curious door to the west. Excited at the thought of meeting my brethren we sought to contact the dwarves beyond the door, only to find them to be undead! I was horrified, yet still curious. The southern antechamber led only to the ogre's dubious belongings, so the way beyond had to be through the undead dwarven kingdom. My companions and I prepared to meet them once more, hoping to repel them if need be and the unfortunates revealed that they would take the flesh of the deceased in exchange for safe passage. The ogre's corpse was used, a grisly task, though necessary to find out what truly lay beyond the curious door...

7/2/15 Gold (GM) Helen P. "Hazza" Elf Thief cubedancer "Lucius Stonekopf" Dwarf Cleric Paul C "Elwinde" [el-WIN-day] Elf Magic User DITCH THAT DEADWEIGHT! Grim [James K] had to stop and repair his equipment after the battle. However, some other explorers showed up (that bothersome Bard certainly has been busy!), so loyal ol' Hazza here left Grim behind and continued to investigate the cavern. We soon spotted an brutal ogre-beastman asleep on a bed, but before he could wake up and chop us all to bits (he had more muscles than all of us combined!), elf mage Elwinde trapped him with a magic net, and I set it all afire. Meanwhile, dwarf cleric Lucius had a brief Q & A session with a spirit (which rose out of what looked like a small basin of blood), and we tried to find out what was behind a tantalizing reinforced door. Rather than futilely fighting the heavy door, we (successfully) tried subterfuge, and found a group of undead dwarves there that wanted dead meat to eat (at least they didn't want live meat!). Eyeing the charbroiled ogre, we chased a pair of corpse-eating beetles away, and gave some of it to the zombies. Yet again I regretted my lack of foresight when packing my equipment, for I had no steak sauce to go with our offering! [Hazza speaks not of treasure found and pocketed, but merely smiles innocently.]
The Bard must truly be mad. He somehow teleported me into this dungeon where I met Lucius, a Dwarven Cleric and Hazza, a Lady Elf Thief. After introductions were made and some information shared we proceeded west. We came upon a sleeping Ogre and after a brief discussion it was decided that we should take him out so that he would not come upon us unawares later. I my web spell on him and then Lucius cast a hold person on him as well. We set the web aflame and burnt the Ogre down. The stench was awful but we endured it nonetheless and that was before we burned him. Lucius had a conversation with a spirit that he discovered and then we decided to try the door. Brute strength was not likely to get us through it but we finally did manage to make a deal with the Undead Dwarves on the other side of it. A good sized chunk of the burnt Ogre in exchange for passage through their realm..

The Life and Times of Lucius Stonekopf As the once noble dwarves hauled the ogre's corpse beyond the door, I was startled by the sudden appearance of several newcomers that were also under the influence of the bard. First, there was a warrior woman, bearing a scimitar with pointed ears and teeth like an animal, then there was a spellcaster like Elwinde, the elf in blue who had vanished for the time being, then another warrior, a human. Hazza the elven thief also showed her face. We puzzled for a time over the door being locked once more and it was decided that we should find more corpses to get beyond the door again. We left the ogre's rooms behind and ventured south for a time. Strange gas seeped through the chamber we were in and we were attacked by lizard-like gas monsters. Though affected by poisonous gas we managed to kill several beasts but feared the presence of a dragon, so hurried back to the area with the curious door, taking some bodies with us. Once again the undead dwarves came for their grisly cargo and we entered their kingdom. The dwarves thought they were ruled by a king long dead but had created a shrine to a carved demonic creature with glowing, gem studded eyes that we dared not touch. The undead dwarves were still working as they had in life, trying to tunnel north, but as they had been attempting this even in death we deemed it madness and pressed on to the throne room. There was a throne there similar to the one where I found the spirit, covered in spikes. As we examined the throne we sensed the ghoulish dwarves growing restless so I cast a Scroll of Protection I had found to keep us safe from the creatures. As the whole area seemed threatening the warrior woman offered to help me climb up the throne without touching it but I was wounded in the attempt so brave Jintra climbed the throne herself. Fortunately there was no danger so once again holy water was used on a basin of liquid and a spirit came forth. It was the dwarven king and we told him of the plight of the undead dwarves as I did not wish to see my once noble brethren reduced to ghouls. We warned the king of the carved demonic creature we had seen and the king asked us to destroy it. Having decided to free the dwarves of this dark influence, Jintra smashed the demonic idol with my warhammer. I took the gems that were its eyes and fortunately its dark magics had no effect on me. Jintra was less lucky as her scimitar was drained of power. As the power of the Scroll of Protection was waning we rushed from the dwarven halls, back through the curious strong door, sensing that the king's spirit was pleased. Perhaps the dwarves would now rest in peace.

After leaving the bar outside of Salina Kansas, Morrison had barely gotten his Harley into 2nd gear when he hit the spinning sphere that suddenly appeared before him, Being no stranger to road rash, he prepared for the tumble, only to find himself flipping across the stone floor of the room where the party had destroyed the templar knights, Gathering his wits and eyeing the fantasy group, he drew his knife but instead decided to collect one of the swords from the fallen templar knights after realizing that the new found 'allies' meant him no harm. Olaf handed him a mace and suggested using that against any skeletons that may reappear. Morrison watched as the mage in the group crawled into a tunnel. The monster known as GUMP began to crawl out and Morrison gathered the rest of the group and eventually defeated the creature and saved the wizard. Continuing on, he also had an essential part in bringing down a Dracolizard. After realizing he would not be making it back to civilation any time soon, the biker decided to stay with the group for awhile, the proverbial "SAFETY IN NUMBERS" effect , if you will. Having heard rumors of a white dragon being close to the bizarre bazaar and the plight of the tapping undead Gomdol dwarves, Olaf had a plan tugging in his head at the recesses of his mind. Brog's Treatise to Entreat with a Dragon. He soon had a set plan to break the curse of the Gomdol, ally with both the dwarves and dragon, cement a trade agreement amongst them recruiting both as allies to escape the Strange World in which he had found himself in. With the help of newly acquired friends like Gemviper, Belba, Morrison (truly strange individual that comes from a place very different the the Mithral Hall mead halls I usually find myself in after a battle with my brethren) and others, we did indeed find the dragon. Moving quickly after preparing ourselves to encounter the great white beast hopefully getting it to agree to our terms as meager as the truly were. With my own quick wit and the memories of Brog's stories rushing through my head I jumbled the words out desperately trying to not tie my tongue and seem cool at the same time Ol' Rian the wyrm was convinced to help us. Carefully deflecting the beasts breath we forced the ice blast to our whims entering the kingdom of the Gomdol dwarves on the strangely magicked statues of former adventurers and adversaries. After coming back to life when the fell sorcery was broken by the enchanted breath a large celebration was held. The Gomdol dwarven king and people were redeemed and the curse lifted ending their shame. Convincing the dwarves to once again craft items for sale in the dragon's bazaar after 1200 years of their curse and making him a strong talisman of our appreciation and gratitude I had brazenly promised him for the help. An amulet of fire resistance was crafted and a stone added to the work with my true dwarven name. I told the dragon I would offer my dwarven soul stone as my most valuable possession it couldn't take from me by force. I truly hope he never finds out I made the tale up after the memory of the story time book my ma'am read to me as a wee beardless whelp. This truly is one for the ages if I can ever find my way back to the damnable Bertram. The bard that dragged me out of the hall that day with magic and likely finding myself in very hot water with Laergatha whenever I finally make my way back home. May Clangeddin forgive me for not charging the beast. I fear that any attempt would have led directly to our downfall and that I could not bear. I must make it back to my world and my time to finish what I have set before me there. I won't die in this cold strange place. I must press on and pick up those with a pure heart and a worthy cause along the way. Olavson DA 1220 Tarsakh, 11
