Tokens Placed Outside of the Map

Tokens should not be able to be placed outside of the map space, where they remain but are unable to be retrieved. Yet, here I am, capable of accidentally dragging-and-dropping a token outside of the map, as a player, unable to bring it back.
I've found that problem too. It hasn't troubled me much yet because I was using poker chips represented as cards when I did it, but I can see that it is going to be a real annoyance when I have a lot of information recorded on a token and no back-up.
Is this area outside of the map in a fog of war? Or is it just in general that a player cannot retrieve a token outside of the map?
As of the latest update you can actually drag things outside the actual map. Tokens, if dragged out there, cannot be dragged back.
