(NOTE: I am posting this for our DM and coordinating recruitment. Party is currently level 6 and just finished an arc, returning to the city from handling some business, and ready to start the next round of shenanigans.  Group is currently 4 players: DM is looking for 1, possibly two players. PM me your information, as requested below, and I will pass responses through to our DM.) Ptolus: City by the Spire Setting: High magic. Fantasy. Start at level 6 w/ no definite ending.   Ptolus is a city of mystery and wonder. 75,000 souls with their own agendas and lives to live. Every race you've ever heard of and maybe a few you haven’t cohabitate in this sprawling metropolis. The city is currently the de facto capital of the Empire of Tarsis which is in the throes of a Civil War. The chamberlain of the last Emperor is claiming power in his name after he died childless. The current Emperor, the nephew of the last, reigns from Ptolus, which has put him at odds with the Emperor of the Church. Who will win out? Any of them? None of them? Maybe you?   Noble Houses, organized crime groups, secret societies, civil war, cults, merchant guilds, monsters, angels and fiends, and everyday scum like you just trying to scrape up a few pennies for the hostel tonight. Ptolus is what you make it. Anything can happen. Currently, the group has returned from rescuing one member’s hometown and family from a ragtag army of brigands. They have been threatened by powerful nobles. Seen their friends arrested and killed. Been haunted by strange dreams. Threats lay dormant underground, in the graveyards, and in the forests. But the change felt most keenly are the reinstated Edicts of Deviltry. The Church of Lothian has decided that most forms of magic and magical items are heretical and are to be destroyed. Any who seek to avoid the Edict face severe punishments if caught. So, have fun.   In my game of Ptolus, there are no races that are objectively evil. Many races may carry a stigma, especially with specific other groups, but few races would be attacked on sight even if they do attract extra attention. So, feel free to be creative. I reserve the right to shut you down, though :P   My Goal: To DM a game that expands on the interests of the characters playing. If every character is an agnostic, then I won't bother setting up a lots of potential arcs for the Temple District, for example. I want to present the city (and wider world) as somewhat of a sandbox for you to play in. You choose the direction and I'll help you get to the destination. *This game will be about 70% roleplay / 30% combat if I get it right :P *   I will challenge you in combat. That is why I keep it to a minimum. I prefer it to feel dangerous and consequential... because it bloody is in my games! I will NEVER just murder your character. If you happen to die, ideally it would result from a lack of preparation or caution more than a "Kobayashi Maru" unwinnable scenario. I want to watch your characters grow, but I also want the story to grow and for the city and adventure to feel alive and organic. If I am always protecting you from yourselves, it loses some of that realism, I feel. That being said, I will absolutely let you attack those guards wink.   I am finishing up a large homebrew crafting system to supplement classes and character archetypes. I will make it available in the group discord if you're invited to join after screening. Playtime will be at 11AM CST on Sundays . This way NA and EU players have the option to join. My sessions tend to run between 3-4 hours. Usually closer to 4.    Rules: 1. No hate (racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia) 2. Language and content is 18+, players must also be 18+ 3. Keep "rules-lawyering" to a minimum. I have integrated some homebrew content and sometimes I knowingly fudge a rule for the benefit of the game. I don't want to spend 5 minutes explaining myself 5 times per session. Please trust me. <3 4. Harassment-free group for women 5. No sexual violence by PCs 6. You must roleplay! Yes, you must! 7. Religion and politics are welcome topics for mature discussion. Resentment and toxicity are not. 8. Evil PCs can be discussed. I make no promises. 9. If you no-show to 2 sessions without a heads up, I'll remove ya. No hard feelings, but I will post a confirmation several days in advance. If you can't make a session, it's polite to let everyone know ASAP so we can make other plans. 10. I reserve the right to make more rules as needed.   Application Format: OOC Name and age: (( Name doesn't have to be real, but please don't be cringe. )) Experience with roleplaying: (( Doesn't have to be only D&D! )) Desired class/role: Something magnificent you'd like to achieve in D&D? and why?: (( I just want to see if you have the ability to build a compelling character. Goals are the most important thing for a PC to have. You can flesh it out or change it completely later. Don't stress. )) Free on Sundays?: Have Discord and mic?: ((Please DM me your discord name.))   We will set up a time for a call and I'll screen you. Then if I think you're a good fit, I'll shoot you the invite for the Discord and add you here! Thanks for reading and hope to speak with you soon!
