Every single attempt to play has fallen through.

I would’ve posted this in Suggestions, but I haven’t even been able to get into a game for the votes to post feedback. I’ve been trying since October to join D&D 5e groups as a new player. DM’s have responded with interest, but then communication suddenly stops like I’m being ghosted. I’m sure they’re just busy or caught up in other things, but it’s honestly easier to find a date than it is to find a D&D game on here. Is this why paid games exist?

Or the usual suspects.  Other time commitments, lack of interest, or pure lethargy.

5E players tend to be kids. Go for a grown-up edition and play with the adults, much less flakiness :)

Hey, I have a longstanding AD&amp;D campaign that meets by Zoom Mondays 8-11 Eastern (so 7-10 Central). It has been going three years and 100+ sessions starting at 1st and now at 10th level. Recently lost a couple of people to other obligations. Mostly middle aged folks. Just let me know if you are interested.

5e has a large player base and because of that GMs feel like they can be flakey because there will always be more.&nbsp; Play older editions, or other games, more adults, more people willing to make commitment&nbsp;

It's difficult to get a sense of the causes here.&nbsp; But it's something I've seen here. I can only suggest patience and care in your searches. If you want to chat about it over DMs, I might be able to provide more specific thoughts of more specific issues. I don't have an opening or anything. But happy to chat. I can't speak to how other DM operate. When I list an opening, I provide a premise, some rules and resources we'll use, some off-limits things... and then I reply to every query which at least attempt s to respond keep those in mind. When I see a reply which shows no consideration for those... I usually write them off. But if they make the attempt, I reply.
