Can anyone tell me why this has started to happen when I select a token and the buttons appear:-
Those are Token Actions - they are macros that display as buttons when a token is selected. The macros could be on the Collections tab (right sidebar) or on an individual character's sheet as an Ability on the Attributes & Abilities tab. In either case, there will be a checkbox on the macro for 'Show as Token Action' that is checked.
When you say "this has started to happen" - do you mean these token actions just recently appeared and weren't there before? I see you have a Roll20 Pro subscription, so have you have loaded any Mod scripts, such as Token Action Maker?
Jarren, can you see the screen print at the bottom?
That never used to happen in any of my other games. And I have been using Token Actions since before they were incorporated into Roll20.

Sorry you said "this has started to happen" and "That never used to happen" but I didn't understand what "this" and "that" were referencing. It sounds like the issue is duplicate buttons are being created?
The most likely cause is a Mod script.
Also, have you recently added an Add-on to the game? I had this happen when I loaded an Add-on that incorporated token actions under the collections tab which had names that duplicated some existing token actions that were part of the character sheets.
I suspect it's what Rick said, because I have had that happen before.
I see the specific names of some Token Action buttons, that tend to be added by certain Modules or Add-Ons from Roll20 Marketplace. Ones like initiative, initiative, initiative. And Resistance-Resistance-Resistance.
The add-ons are still worth-it (they give you so much more in your game, such as Maps, handouts, tokens, characters, plotlines). The GM just needs to go into Collections and remove the duplicates after adding another Add-On.
I don't see all of the usual default button names that are generated by Token Action Maker, but TAM does have the ability to remove all Abilities from a selected group of characters. It will ignore any token action that comes from the Collections tab, and anything protected by putting a period at the end of an Ability name.
