Confusion on Player View and Changing Maps update

I haven't used roll20 in a few weeks, and I think i missed an update regarding how to, as a DM, change the player views to different maps.  I used to know to do it by moving the "players" bookmark from one map to another, and then just clicking on a map to view it myself.  How does this work now, like for example, if my one-shot has 2 maps, how do i move my players from one map to another...? and what's the point of the yellow bookmark when it doesn't move like the old one did? I think i just missed and update / "what's new" box, but sadly it's left me a bit lost and i have 2 games coming up... Also if there's a specific spot that goes over function changes, not just Bug fixes, linking that would be appreciated!

Hi MuseClash,  The Page Toolbar isn't technically a new update, it has been on Roll20 for 9 months now. What happened is the old one was finally removed and the new one made standard.  The new page toolbar has several features that are different.  1) You can have folders.  2) There are now two ribbons for moving things, the one on the page and the one at the top of the screen.  3) Moving individual players to different pages now works a bit differently. Instead of moving the player's profile (bottom left of the screen) to the page you now click the top bookmark and select who you want to move, then drag them to the page.  To move the bookmark you can still move the ribbon in the "red box" (see image) but it can be a bit fiddly and there has been a loss of the "mousewheel" function while doing it this way.  The ribbon in the "green box" (see image) is generally better, and should be used most of the time.

I’ve been using the new system exclusively since it debuted all those months ago, and I have never used the ribbon on the map (red, above), only the ribbon on the top bar (green, above).  I have found moving the player ribbon first and then clicking on the map to move the GM view is less error prone. I find myself talking about a map my player can’t see less often that way.  I’ve never needed the new “splitting the party” feature in play, but I tested it and it works fine. A little practice and testing and you’ll find it second nature.
I like the new method of "splitting the party" to the old one because it requires less mouse movement on my part because "top ribbon manu to map" is a shorter distance than "bottom of screen to map", but that's because my screen looks similar to what's shown in Gauss's post above.

I was very pleased that my current GM required no prompting or education on my part to split the party multiple times during our game last night. He was so excited that it just worked.
Once I explained that the ribbon needs to be dragged to the center of the desired map instead of the top, the GM in the game I play in also loved the new method. He had the same tendency as I do to accidentally "drop" the player icon before getting it to the desired map when using the old method.

I really love the Page Toolbar update and folders. For me it's been very easy to drag the yellow Golden Ribbon from the top, onto the middle of a map icon, to move ALL Players or any subset of "Split the Party".&nbsp; MuseClash said: Also if there's a specific spot that goes over function changes, not just Bug fixes, linking that would be appreciated! Good question, there are lots of resources and the instructions for functional changes (new features, feature updates) tend to appear in any or all the places. There's not necessarily (that I can think of) ONE clearinghouse spot for Feature Changes without Bug Fixes.&nbsp; In some ways it's your Launch Game → your roll20 tabletop itself. Roll20 put a Pop-Up Tutorial for the Page Folders feature that should've automatically displayed on (only) the first time you launched into your game with Page Folders feature enabled.&nbsp; The top-choice for that is probably Roll20 Dev Blog, because you can be sure that the Blog talks about any and all function/feature changes. But they also talk about a lot of other topics, so it's mixed together. I recommend going to CATEGORIES drop-down in their blog and choose "Features" and also look at "Developer Diary" to see just the blogs about functionality. LINK:&nbsp; <a href="https://blog.roll20.net/" rel="nofollow">https://blog.roll20.net/</a> &nbsp; The Changelog is comprehensive and often first to confirm changes. But of course the Changelog mixes in Bug Fixes and is usually more Bug fixes than feature adds, and also doesn't teach you how to use the features.
