D&D 5E - CITY OF CATS (Egyptian Theme) - Interest Check (LFP)(Paid) City of Cats  (click there for game page) was one of last month's rewards for Roll20 pro subscribers. It is a really well done and fleshed-out city, complete with a variety of NPCs and a ton of adventure opportunities. It is Egyptian-themed, with an emphasis on the Feline race and with middle eastern naming conventions. While there are puns and tongue-in-cheek, it can be taken very seriously. Could run it as a mini-series, or allow it to grow into a full campaign.  Character creation would allow for just about any race within official releases, with an encouragement for non-humans. We would be looking for 4-6 players (but am fine to run a session 0 and get started with 3). This paid game would be bi-weekly at 15/session (30/month via Patreon or Paypal). Likely on Wednesdays at a starting time slot of 6 PM PST. We use Discord for voice/communications, and Roll20 for the tabletop. All players welcome at any experience level. Thank you for your interest in the game! Please comment here or PM for more info or an invitation! This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $30/month via Patreon or PayPal. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements.
In southern Nuria Natal, where the great River Nuria narrows into a gorge hundreds of miles long, the river streams around the monolithic ankles of 800-foot-tall statues of gods. Their towering forms loom over the river just before its waters course out into the open desert again, broadening and slowing at the foot of the gleaming city called Per-Bastet. Thriving, bewildering, and roiling with frenetic life, the City of Cats has stood for unknown thousands of years at the crossroads of the Southlands. It is a city of nine districts, nine pyramids, and nine lives. Each time the city has fallen, it has risen again to sing its praises to Bastet, the patron goddess who walks among her chosen. Per-Bastet is the city of cats and gnolls, of perfume and temples, of abounding gold, mithral, and diamond mines, of alchemy and prophesy, of imported spice and draconic slave markets, and of sumptuous brothels and brutal fighting pits. With its mercurial patron goddess and a populace of myriad carnivorous races and predatory species, the city thrives on the energy of its own lack of harmony.
Because everything in this setting will focus on the one city and be contained therein, I was thinking about a more involved down-time for players. Maybe they run their own inn or guild or something? Taven Master allows for more direct simulation examples, but could be simpler. I am hoping that these characters will already be very familiar with each other, having all grown up in the city. But maybe they're not friends... :p
While this is set up to be a mini-series of sorts, I would love to see it blossom into a full campaign beyond the introduction to the city. I am excited about the altered history setting (ancient cultures, particularly the Egyptian, are of a personal fascination). This is a great campaign and setting for newcomers to learn D&D in a fun way, and cool for veterans to have a different slice of life.
