Naming of Copied Chars!

Score + 5
4 Years ago this was posted. Still this simple helpful change wasnt realized! If you create a campaign with like huge Ork Amries or many Guards this is a true pain in the Ass which need to be resolved ASAP! This is a fairly small suggestion that would save a lot of minor annoyances from piling up I think. Right now when you duplicate a Character Sheet, it renames it to "Copy of <Character Name>."  This can be quite annoying when making several copies of a character for threats, etc. My suggestion is effectively to instead rename the sheets "<Character Name> ##" with a number that continues to increase if the name is redundant.  i.e.: Thug Thug 01 Thug 02 Thug 03 Instead of:   Thug Copy of Thug Copy of Thug Copy of Thug Anyway, I think this would save tons of little annoyances throughout GM'ing, esp when you want to spin a copy off of a stock character.  While it's a quick edit having to do it over and over again can be quite cumbersome in a hurry.

Hi Sanctanox,  Nice suggestion for PCs etc. but I do have a question. Is there a reason you are spinning off copies of Thugs?
While I agree that kind of naming format would be nice, just as a note, it's usually more convenient to have multiple token copies to a single sheet, than multiple copies of the sheet. Just de-link resources from the token bars, so they don't share wounds etc.
That doesnt work in DSA properly. Roll20 is lagging so hard i jsut simply need seperate Sheets for everyone.
I'm confused, how does making copies of identical sheets help with that?
at least there should be an option to just have the possibility to do so. I find this extremely inconvient:  it's usually more convenient to have multiple token copies to a single sheet. I just wanna create a bigger army fast with multiple sheet and differents weapons. I dont want to rename every single sheet by hand. I play very big complicated campains. When i drop an Ork for the compendium that allows you to have the option. 1 Sheet for Multiple or create new sheet when drop from kompendium.
with the maybe to have the option to put in an naming sheme. like name 1, 2,3 or maybe like Putting aname list. Or an Option drop 50 sheets at once and put a list for naming.

A better suggestion would be to auto-number the tokens rather than have duplicate auto-numbered characters.

The Token system simply doesnt work for me. Its way to simple. Maybe i have too quit roll20 and look for another VTT if the community want this simple tracking System of Stati for enemies.

If you want to make an army of 500 orcs, you create 1 orc with a linked token setup however you like (bars linked to hp, ac, whatever...) then unlink the bars (HP, AC, whatever, is still represented on the bars), copy that token and paste 499 times.&nbsp; <a href="https://wiki.roll20.net/Linking_Tokens_to_Journals" rel="nofollow">https://wiki.roll20.net/Linking_Tokens_to_Journals</a> Agree that it would be nice to auto-number the pasted tokens ie "mooks". There's a handy mod (pro req) that can do this BTW <a href="https://wiki.roll20.net/Script:Token_Name_Number" rel="nofollow">https://wiki.roll20.net/Script:Token_Name_Number</a>

Perhaps if you explained why you need multiple character sheets of the same creature that would help?

My players need unique token target names to tell me they are aiming at... (e.g., Skeleton01 vs, Skeleton02)

I use the TokenNameNumber MOD to number the duplocate NPC tokens (Zombie 1, Zombie 2, etc,) and my players still &nbsp;prefer to use pings to indicate their targets. The only reason that i still uss the numbered tokens is to track them in the turn tracker.
Yeah, nice mod, but the problem is these add ons need long time support which eventually die out. I tested out foundry and already saw script support dying slowly, so you cant update your game. I would also pledge to it, but patreon doesnt accept my card.

That's the thing about user-created (and supported) content, whether it's on a VTT, video game mods or even mods used in business applications. They're a lot of work to both create and maintain, and eventually some of the creators either get busy with other things, lose motivation or just get tired of working for free. Still, while they're still here, I'm going to make use of what they create :). I started DMing long before I discovers these aids; or even VTTs for that matter!
